Loads of respect for Geoff. Im from Liverpool too, I wish it was how Geoff describes it (im about 10 years behind Geoff in age) and by the time I was learning to skate I can vouch for the fact skate culture was massively frowned upon by just about everyone in the late 90's/early 2000's, especially by other youths as it was misunderstood as a "mosher/goth/emo" thing and therefore weird and met with hostility. Kids would get together to skate in the city centre a mere 10 minute walk away from where Geoff bought his first skateboard at Probe Records, and all of the tracksuit wearing hoodlums would turn up to fight the skaters and steal their boards even though they were doing no harm... just like the mods with their scooters being attacked by teddyboys back in the 50's and 60's. Needless to say I never did learn to skate as it just painted a target on your back 😒 Best thing Geoff ever did for his career was move away from Liverpool. Otherwise we may not even know who he is today. Lots of love for my city but it was narrow minded and wouldn't accept trends which were seen as being... overly american Unless of course it involved guns or violence 😡 which is cool
