@fredriks50906 жыл бұрын
There should be a law giving the right to use the beaches regardless of who owns them, like we have in Norway for our nature. As long as people aren't actively stopping business with no regards for the owner, or destroying nature,- travel in nature is allowed everywhere.

karam boubou When I think about Syria, I immediately think about the beach problems there...
@moneymule82096 жыл бұрын
@@ariellevi8763 most of these places, technically your allowed to go on the beach as all beaches are "public" but what hotels do is put like a fence or net from their side of the beach, even worse is that your only allowed up to the high water tide line if the property is on the beach, meaning that you pretty much always have to be in the water if you want to be in the "public but pretty much private" beaches. And this is what puts people off enjoying that portion of the beach. It's crazy now I think about it.

I'm from Reunion and have been to Mauritius quite a lot. An interesting fact is that the flight between the two "sisters" islands is proportionally to its length (merely 200km), the highest priced flight in the world (costs several hundred euros). My sister is married to a Mauritian. It's just a friendly rivalry between Reunion and Mauritius, nothing hostile btw.

It would've also been interesting if you talked about the current case of the Chagos Archipelagos where people who were evicted by Britain in order to allow the US to make the island their military base are still trying to go back to their home. Overall I think this video was a well-done one. The pronunciations had me cracking up but it's all good lmao. Since Mauritius is still called "l'île Maurice" (Maurice island) in french, we used to have a game based on a pun on french tv where you could win a one week trip to Mauritius, but the loser had to agree to spend a week with Maurice in Lille (cut to a fat schmuck in northern France).
@m.w.m.y6 жыл бұрын
Is that a sort of french pun or something? (Cos im mauritian and i never heard of that)
@TheZapan996 жыл бұрын
Yes, l'île Maurice and Lille Maurice are pronounced the same. It was a self-deprecating pun, because Mauritius is considered a tropical paradise, while Lille is a grey industrial town.

In friendzone you forgot South Africa which is its first economic partner in africa and there's a lot of (white) south africans living in mauritius You also forgot to say that le morne is a unesco world heritage and apravasee ghaat as well (which is where the engaged workers were transiting to come to mauritius)... Too bad you didn't talk about the endemic fauna as well (and the sucessfull program to save them) And i khow the name if the waterfall is victoria falls... But you have seven waterfalls (7 cascades) which are beautiful as well and you can do canyoning and there's rochester falls as well And the picture you showed for grand baie was actually the caudan waterfront in Port Louis It would have been interesting to elaborate on the chagosian people who were deported in terrible conditions by the british in order for the US to build an army base on Diego Garcia the main Island

in a way , he is right , that is why they are called 'population générale ' the indians and Chinese were in fact foreigners in the 19th century. most people do not even know the origin and the real meaning of this Word.
@adityeah38026 жыл бұрын
a niu In a way he is wrong cause, humans settled in Mauritius only about 400 years ago. So the general population is either only twice as much 'real mauritian' as the others who came 200 years ago or nobody is a real mauritian. As for me, being someone who was born and grew up in that beautiful island, it does hurt when someone infers I am not a real mauritian because my ancestors came to this place later.

Namaste I'm Mauritian born in liverpool,uk. Moved to Mauritius spent my childhood there then moved to Manchester,Uk. my friends are always asking me about Mauritius. Grew up in a Hindu family. grandparents spoke bhojipuri and family spoke creole. I watched French cartoons, movies and went to a french speaking school. Watched kung fu movies with english subtitles. Already knew how to speak English. Learnt Hindi from Bollywood movies and learnt some sanskrit from Hindu prayers and family time. Well its really tricky to explain that to people and of all the different cultures and backgrounds in Mauritius and how it got discovered. pretty much everything you've covered in this video. and now I can send them this video! Merci!
