I’m Micronesian and I must say, I’m impressed by the amount of research you’ve done on this segment. History of Micronesia by Francis X Hezel should have enough information about this region if anyone’s interested. Yes, we are rich in culture, yes we have very strong traditions but we also watch KZbin a lot, spend loads of time on social media, and because of the Compact of free association with the U.S., we do have Micronesian families living and working all across the U.S. ...I may have a lot more to say but it’ll take me a whole lot of time so I’ll have to end with a little addition to the list of athletes. Jennifer Chieng is a Yapese who’s recently transitioned from her Wall Street job to be a professional MMA fighter and has just debuted her first fight on Bellator 208. I was in Micronesia last Christmas & New Year’s (verrrry chill). My grandfather fought in Operation Hailstone, when the US Navy caught the Japanese with their pants down and caused the single greatest navy loss in Japan’s history. I spent a week diving Truk Lagoon, floating through so many wrecks and some may have been the ships that my grandfather helped sink. It was like a near perfectly preserved museum, the action frozen in time.

Had a dream today and when I woke up, I tell it to my boyfriend - there is a country near our country (Philippines) and whenever I look at the sky, I saw the Philippines image formed by a cloud and there is always another country near it. Then he searched for countries which are unfamiliar to us and the result shows FSMO. So we read and looked for documentaries about this country, and I love everything about it 💞

When I was stationed in korea in thr 90's, I was friends with a fellow soldier who was from Micronesia, he was going to visit home on his vacation time, he said it takes 2 or 3 days to get there and back. He had to fly to hawaii from korea, then fly from hawaii to a Micronesian island and then catch a smaller plane to his island home and back. Crazy !!
