White people: Spray tan and sunbeds PoC: Skin bleach The grass is greener on the other side?
@saad_ghannam4 жыл бұрын
People always crave what they don't have, for example in the Arab World people like rainy days while in Europe they prefer sunny days.
@Clemehl4 жыл бұрын
It a social status thing. Most people in the world are working outside (likely: farms) and get a tan. People without a tan are people that do not need to work outside, so likely to be wealthy. So lighter skin is praised because it is seen as sign of wealth and power. It is the opposite in most white country, because the common people now work indoor (factory, office...) during daytime so they can't get a tan. Having a tan as a white guy is synonymous to a guy that can go to vacation or can manage to have free time during the day. No wonder some people are painting their face orange: it is a sign of wealth and power. Nowadays, the line are blured, because a lighter / darker is less and less synonymous of wealth / power, and deceptive.

I find that while, lighter skinned people want to darken their skin, the process with how you do that can be much less harmful (if you don't include tanning beds) than trying to whiten darker skin. Bleaching the skin is much more harmful than simply putting on spray tan. Unfortunately one side gets a more shitty time than the other

17:54 because historically having a light skin tone symbolized nobility and wealth. The nobles stayed inside their castles in the shadow while the commoners had to work on the fields in the sun and thus got tanned. This is also were the therm "Blue blood" comes from because you could actually see the (blue) veins through the light skin of the nobility while you could not though the tanned skin of the commoners.
@felixw194 жыл бұрын
@Caligula stfu up Nazi!
@tetra42894 жыл бұрын
@bean boy Yeah exactly in Europe people tend to fake tan or try to be as tan as possible naturally, this is because it's actually another symbol of wealth and upper social class that has completely shifted since a few centuries (when white was considered better for the reasons you mentioned). Now if you are tan, that means you can afford to go on vacations in sunny areas, if you are too white it means you don't get out of your house very often.

I really like the sound of "Sénégal" in French (I don't know, maybe all the "é"'s and the "-al" at the end, lol) so I made a little poem about Sénégal in French. Some of it might be nonsensical, I just wanted to have some fun with the word "Sénégal." Malgré l'histoire coloniale, Les relations restent cordiales.
