The bridge between the North African Arab world and the black African world. The Sahara meets the Sudd. Where ancient Nubian pyramids meet modern skyscrapers. No nation on earth has quite the vivacious tale that this one tells. Welcome to the REAL nation of the Nile, #SUDAN. Hope you enjoy! Thanks Ruba and Methany for co-hosting!

So I am gonna say something, and I think this will be true for most of you non-Sudanese folk, the amount of effort & time put into researching this episode was absolutely massive to say the least, and I wasn't fully appreciative of it until it came to my country, everything was spot on accurate, beautifully presented, and the girls were adorable and made the whole episode surprisingly fun, many thanks to everyone who contributed to this in any way, shape or form, especially Barbs, keep up the good work and I hope my country will heel soon and return to its former glory years.

Hi, just wanted to mention that it would be much appreciated if you enabled closed captions on videos like this. I've been a huge fan of your channel for a while. I'm also hearing impaired, so it is much harder for me to understand videos. Your videos are great, and I am thankful for the closed captions that you do have. However, adding them on your other videos would help your amazing content reach an even broader audience. The deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing impaired community would really appreciate it if you added closed captions. Thanks for your consideration to make your videos more accessible for everyone. Have a nice day :)

I was in Sudan from Feb 1984 to 1985, 1 year and 2 days, working in the Kenana Sugar Factory. I visited Khartoum, our travel from the capital to the factory had a compulsory stop in Wad Madani, I went to the city of Kosti a few times, Rabak also, learned some arabic (I had many Sudanese people working in my team) and loved my time there, my first professional work. From the greens of the sugar plantations to the browns of the desert, the night sounds of the frogs from the White Nile, the stars in the clear sky at night, the crazy days of Ramadan while working in the factory. I have watched every single episode to date, I have thouroughly enjoyed each episode, they are all excellent...Barbs (I hope I got this correct?) you are an amazing, incredible host. I knew not of you until the Liechtenstein episode...ah little Liechtenstein! I was instantly hooked and binge watch from Afghanistan forward. In all my ventures with you as host I have been impressed with your enthusiasm and delighted in the joy you share. I just watched this latest episode, Sudan, and I am blown away at the transition, you carry what many consider a bookworm, nerdy subject and have managed to show the world the glory and wonder of all that surrounds us! Your guest hosts were beautiful, wonderful woman that really amazed me, you ladies are beyond my ability to state... I am in awe! To make a long story a bit shorter, I have watch Sudan's Flag Friday which is certain too be informative and fun... I always love Geogra-Fanmail time! This is one amazing channel with a lot of content that is taught in a fan way. I’m from South Sudan. But born in Sudan( stayed there for 11 years) till the independence of South Sudan, where most southerners had to now go back to the south. Never lived in South Sudan for long but I always make frequent visits. Countries I lived in were Kenya( for 8 years) where I currently reside and Uganda ( for one year) for study purposes. I look forward to watching the video about South Sudan. And many more to come. Keep up the great work.

It was actually the Sedan Atomic Test in Nevada that created the Sedan Crater, the largest man made hole on the planet. The insane idea was, “hey, can we use a nuke to excavate large amounts of soil?” Technically yes it did, but it also made the area highly radioactive and not inhabitable. Plus all the radioactive soil that came out landed in Utah, creating a higher cancer rate around the town of St. George.
