The world's #1 or #2 least visited country. LOTS of mystery to solve. Our last "T" country, and last Polynesian country (one more for Oceania though!). Also Thanks KERI - she is officially the RAREST person we've ever had as a guest host the show (only about 13,000 Tuvaluans in the world). THIS is an episode you don't want to miss. ENJOY!

I’ve always had this fascination with these tiny island nations in Oceania ever since I visited Hawaii. Hawaii is cool, but I don’t think you really get the authentic island experience when everything is so tourist-y. Now enter these tiny island nations that go completely unknown by most of the rest of the world; there’s pristine beaches, coral reefs, islands to explore, and rich culture somewhere here, the only issue is well… trying to get there in the first place.
@mygetawayart
@mygetawayart 2 жыл бұрын
and there are plenty of islands (maybe not Tuvalu though) that have a much better balance of touristy and authentic than Hawaii, where you can enjoy your luxury beach cabins and pay with credit cards but also be extremely close to the traditional islander lifestyle

@mate Yes, it should- because it's a US state. As much as Oklahoma, Utah, Texas, or North Dakota. You say " Americanized " as if it's bad ( it isn't ), and as if it's a country- which it isn't. A US State. Also funny you mock tourism, given that whole nations depend on it for their economy. Or that it stops you from having the " authentic island experience ", which for some IS tourism. There's always...Guam, I suppose, if you want somewhere more rustic

It's incredible how you managed to get two Tuvaluans on your show, Barbs, as I due to how their so rare outside of their native country and how I don't think contacting the ones who live in the country is easy. No wonder you call people like Carrie, Terry from the Solomon Islands, and Malika from Turkmenistan "unicorns". I do wish the best of everything for the tiny dots in the ocean, Tuvalu and Happy Thanksgiving, Barbs. 🇹🇻

That being said, I do hope that in some 8795 years, after you make videos about all UN countries and all UN observers and unrecognized countries, you will find the time, resources and, most importantly, the desire to redo at least the A and B countries into current format. Regardless, that was a great episode)) Really amazes me how such a small country with barely any land has so much going for them)

Hey, I've been there, to Funafuti. The Pandanus fruit was interesting, the coconuts were good, the crabs were great and the coconut crabs were amazing. I remember one of the days I was there, it was raining really heavily and I had to go out to get some fishing line for something. I could have waited until the rain stopped, but my clothes were due for a wash anyway. The path I took from where we were staying to the shops, I ran both ways about 380m, brought me along the side of the air strip for about 140m, running through water that was nearly up to my knees. All in all, a very memorable experience.

Wow so many similarities. In Kiribati, we call it. Te Karewe(toddy), Te Mai(breadfruit), Te ore ano(ore means hit/throw/kick), maneaba(meeting house), Nuian language(I can understand it very well different accents tho) etc.

I just watched Canada and then watched this and it is amazing to see how much the videos (including the puns) and the channel has evolved. I wish I knew about this channel years ago, it is just such a gem.

Another awesome video! I absolutely love traveling to obscure places and learning about different ways of life. Although I'm 19 so I haven't traveled much. Tuvalu is now on my travel list, to spend a few days on each of the "islands"
