Yep, I travelled to what the internet deems the least visited country in the world. The reality is that the statistics behind this are far from perfect. Many of these small countries don't actually count how many people come visit. So it's very hard to really tell which country truly has the least visitors. Either way, I went to Tuvalu, which is somewhere in the bottom of the list... and my experience was shocking.

NEXT WEEK. BIGGEST SEEK DISCOMFORT DROP EVER. GET HYPED. Now to add a note on climate change, what's happening to Tuvalu is heartbreaking... We're trying really hard to work on our emissions. We're the first to admit that we're far from perfect and have a long way to go. We're educating ourselves on how we can be better and we carbon offset all our flights, which is a start but obviously not a final solution. We're actively experimenting with ways to improve and we'll be talking more about it in future videos! I'm feeling super grateful after this trip and I'm so excited I got to share this incredible experience with you all. Love -Thomas

But what will you eat? A whole unseasoned chicken and fries? The Pacific islands are definitely not a culinary destination. I'd kill to open a badass restaurant out there (I'd have the market cornered), but all the ingredients would need to be imported and it would cost an arm and a leg to fly it in. The cost would be so high that none of the locals could afford to eat there, so I'd go out of business anyway.

We flew there 25 years ago from Fiji in June and when we landed we were the 3rd and 4th tourists to visit that year. We stayed for 3 weeks and on the 4th day there was a cyclone for 3 days. It was also the 10th anniversary of their independence and a large celebration so we were invited to the party. Then it was the Queens Birthday as well. So we got and invite from the prime minister to attend. I had to borrow shoes shirt and long ants to attend. What a great place to visit , it was such and honour and we have such great memories.

So, from the aiport check-in when you are greeted by a barefoot man, to the curious way that subscriber guy spotted you and his simple life of "that is all we need" , to the people playing on the airport strip it was all so unexpected and amazing 😍 I hope this island will only get as much publicity as it needs to be kept safe, and that crowds will not change the beauty and simplicity of their lives.

@@indovilletv8601 Like Charlie Chaplin said it "We've created technology and shut ourselves in". We've created a world too complicated for any individual to fully understand, and too large to feel any real sense of community. Interesting how we chased security and convenience, and after achieving it, we're left unfulfilled. We are designed for a simple lifestyle. Our needs are really quite simple, food, water, shelter, and family. I think we've lost track of that, and we could all definitely learn something from these people and others like them. Don't miss the sunrise because you were too busy reaching for the stars. Live in the moment.

@@maestrojo Yeah me too, because of a video about country codes for websites that was talking about how Tuvalu got $5 million of its code `tv`, but enough of that, so once I got the name of the least visited country I decided to watch more, and I really saw this beautiful island country, and its sad that climate change is really killing this and many more islands, and we all ( and I know that ) wanna see that place, but if we all did, chances are we`d ruin it so it`s kinda good only a few people go there, but we should really work to fix climate chang and save beautiful places like that. Such a amazing incredidbly beautiful place. Wow.

lovely video, felt so happy watching it. Reminded me of a few trips I made in the mid 90s to Samoa (Western Samoa at the time). The same sense of community and sharing. The same happy faces and kindness. Even the same greeting: Tofa! (Which, if I remember correctly, was an abbreviation of "Talofa"). Obviously these countries share a common history. I've always longed to return.

LOL, I get what you are saying but, honestly, you would probably get treated in a very similar fashion in any small town in America or in many foreign countries. I grew up in a little hick town in Kentucky. If someone new showed up at school, everyone wanted to talk to them and be friends with them. When I was in Korea, with the military, I went against what everyone told me and I toured the country. People came out of the woodwork to talk to me, to practice their English, or to just invite me to come and eat with their family in parks. My girlfriend laughs at me because I just start talking to people. I will see something that attracts my attention and comment to them and the next thing you know, I'm in a deep conversation with them. There is nothing stopping you from doing the same. Seek discomfort. Get outta your box. Talk to strangers.

I know if i had hundreds of millions to tens of billions like the 2% of the world, I would happily help them along with setting up a few deep sea fishing boats for them. All that unfished water can bring them lots of money. Theres many ways they can make money from trade and still keep a free trade within the Islands. People apparently dont think outside the box anymore and thats why our world is not like thiers. Watch his show on Bhutan "The happiest country". Maybe we can learn from them to help Tuvalu.

I thought that, I'm sure they manage the tourism to the island in a special way. Otherwise erosion would become a large issue.

Awesome to see those spots again! I had the privilege of going there once for an amazing week back in 2011. Glad you eventually got the pronunciation down 😅 (14:08). Great video.

They should build a platform to be their new home when the water rises. They could start building the supports now while they have dry ground to work with!

This has been happening for over 10,000 years. At one time Northern europe and Canada where covered in ice. France and UK were connected by land. (Doggerland) Very sad but unless you can cause an ice age the volcano will go back under water.
