Geometrical Similarity Search and More: Find Data Reliably

In this video, we will show you how to find CAD components quicker and easier, avoid duplicates and therefore save unnecessary subsequent costs.
You can search for data in different ways with simus classmate.
For complex parts, assemblies and standard and purchase parts, the search based on characteristics is most suitable.
On the other hand, the geometrical similarity search works best for simple made-to-order parts.
simus classmate is the only patented software supporting both search strategies and even combines them.
We will now explain the geometrical similarity search in more detail.
Let's assume, you need a part such as the rough design you can see here.
The similarity search with classmate easyFINDER is running in your CAD program - in this case Solidworks but also most common CAD systems are supported.
Models which are geometrically similar to the original model are now listed.
The more stars are highlighted in yellow, the higher is the similarity to the models found in relation to the original model. The deviation is also shown in decimals.
In order to see all details in which the models differ, you can now start a geometric differential analysis. The highlighted faces show the differences at a glance.
Alternatively, you can compare characteristics. The differences are also shown in color.
Another useful feature is partial matching. In this search, you are only looking for a defined part of the component.
Not only can you find parts which have a similar outer shape but also matching counterparts or tools.
Without actively initiating a search, simus classmate informs you about similar models to your part in your database. The 'Model Monitor' is working in the background. It displays the current number of similar models as well as the manufacturing costs of the model automatically during the design process.
