For questions like number 24, are we supposed to memorize the properties of each shape?

It helps to know the properties from memory but here's a nice trick. Draw the shape in question as neat as possible. Then draw in the diagonals and see if the shape has those properties being mentioned. Geometry is very visual so take advantage!

The triangle is equilateral, so all sides are equal. Once we show AB = 40, it follows that AC = 40. I hope this helps!

Also just to ask as a follow-up question since EF is a mid segment divides up all its sides to be 1/2 to the sides of the big triangle (that’s why there are different tick marks?

Unless you have a computer brain, you need a calculator! Maybe you were in radian mode instead of degree mode?
