Many Dankeschöns Lejla! This will help all of us. Have a question for a geolocated project: There needs to be a roundtrip via IFC and BCF and back into Revit. It happened a lot, that there was just a white screen when clicking on the BCF. Which happens due to coordinates which are not set up right OR not exported in the right way. So what do I have to care about to avoid a white screen clicking on a BCF? Besides drinking a Flat White.

Im a bit lost that in ifc4 when use different options the same builing appears in different location and rotation. Finally all files no matter what software should get the right place no metter of revit True or project North setting. Please explain this? :(

I think you ment by geolocation in IFC that is stored in RefLattitude and RefLongitude and RefElevation :) but waiting for other videos! :)

So using IFC 2x3 on project you export by shared cooridnates and you deal with that all files must be geolocated, no geometry near local 0,0 beacause it causes long distances and graphic issues, right?

it seems like Revit 2021 is not supported any longer by the IFC team of Autodesk? what is the reason? 2021 has still critical bugs and not all placement methods are working

I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your video and appreciate you covering this topic. I've heard from some people that unclipping the location of the Survey Point can cause issues, particularly with elevation information. Have you had any experience with this problem? I came across some materials from Nicolas Catellier that recommend not unclipping the Survey Point. On the other hand, I believe that unclipping it can make exporting easier (there was a thought-provoking geometry distortion in your video :) ), it shows real measurement location on site (that can be a physical element) and I haven't had any problems with it myself.

Thanks for your comment! Clipping or unclipping really depends on what you’re trying to achieve - in this video i particularly mentioned what happens AFTER a georeference has been set. Height information is tricky indeed, because again you have the number indicated in the survey point and then the location of the survey point, which can be different. I really think Revit gives us too many options to set up things in different ways.. 😅 Will try to cover it in another video. In general, different projects have different requirements and different best practices, I think it’s just important to be aware of what happens when you move these points around.

Revit pure video about cooridnates system was released in 2019 and there was also a clip with project base point which doesnt exist anymore So the video and rules there are out of date unfortunately. I had problems to find latest news So great to See New videos in this topic. Please cover elevation in next videos!

Unfortunately it‘s a common practice in our industry to geolocate without a local basepoint, because most CAD solutions will tolerate this. 🤷🏼‍♀️
