The moment on this show was when they called out Glen Campbell to jam. They knew he was a session musician and could play but they didn’t count on the fact he could BURN!! Carlos later said the guy that scared him was Glen Campbell!

I believe George and Carlos had never played together before this gig. They may have started a little tentatively, but by the end it looked (and sounded!) like they were having an absolute blast trading fours and then finishing out those last choruses. What a treat.

3:45 HOLY SHIT how deep of a moment this was, giving the drummer a hint to keep down his fancy hi-hats to not disturb the entrance of Carlos solo, to give him even more space. Because it's fucking Carlos Santana, you don't have that chance every day. Such a HUGE display of control and skill, all the while he's smiling and looking at Carlos - AMAZING Musicianship.

I've always believed George Benson and Carlos Santana should have recorded an album together back in 1976. Sadly, it never happened! "Breezin'" was written by Bobby Womack. Gabor Szabo recorded his version in 1971 with Bobby Womack and inspired Carlos to record his interpretation of Breezin' as "Song Of The Wind" on Santana's Spiritual "Caravanserai" album in 1972. George Benson recorded and released his version in 1976 on the Breezin' album which was a big hit.

If you’re trying to say Carlos is just playing pentatonic licks…he isn’t. I’m guessing you’re not a player?
@mattiasorre17189 ай бұрын
@@dogman5680 I dont have to guess that youre not a player, you clearly couldnt string a guitar. My father actually played with both of these guys and wasnt impressed by carlos either. Benson is of course far more musically accomplished than Carlos and has to hold back here, mainly out of politeness but perhaps also because he realizes he's playing to a Santana audience with not much musical education.
