Even nowadays containers for homes, having become a bit more popular, are underutilized honestly. You can do them up in a multitude of ways, sometimes you wouldn't know the base was several containers they look so good. It's also a good way to be able to build a lot of homes fast, and there is need all over the place. You can also make one or two living variants, and stack them a bit, removeable outside stairs, attachments for power and water etc in standard places, so you can unstack them, put them on trucks, move them somewhere, stack them up, attach stairs, hook them up to generators and a container with water and pump, use them for relief after disasters etc. When done, store them or move them to the next spot that needs help. I've even seen something like that done, and then with a few of them having a shop, for simple food, a hairdresser, a shoemaker, a clothing repair shop, also good for relief, instant repairs for stuff people need and have nothing left. I've seen some small living areas with a lot of such things almost the same, but for refugees, and then with a few of such containers they can do a lot for themselves, support themselves, even teach some kids a thing or two, crafts they can use to make a living, and often people from around come to visit, meet and talk with them, taste different foods, and it's less crime and less people hanging about town in a bad way, it just works.
