@Sinosure thanks for watching man, it's definitely a nice library for sure, the way you can tweak stuff is dope too. Just wish we could edit the slice points in it!
@TerenceKearns4 жыл бұрын
10 years later, still relevant. Output arcade is making a killing doing the same thing with an expanded approach using their online library and pre-tuning everything on the fly.

@ketrick88 cool, thanks for watching

@SoundsAndGear I agree, I think they should add that on an update. I heard they adjusted the stretch function so it's a lot smoother and more natural than they originally released. Hopefully editing slice markers will be in the near future
@BossOfAllMer12 жыл бұрын
I just got mine yesterday. I recveived both the installation package, and a seperate Zip file with all the Wave samples.
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@gclef101 thank you for the support!

definitely, I don't know if they changed it or not, I got it right when it released
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@manifest918 thanks for watching.
@SoundsAndGear11 жыл бұрын
in kontakt you just drag the patches into the window, if you're loading the wave files you can just drag them onto a pad in Maschine, you can also load kontakt as a plugin in Maschine
@BeatsAndGuitars13 жыл бұрын
I just bought this today and I'm really impressed. I do find myself wanting to change the slice points but it's all good. Thanks Saint Joe
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
it was a separate download when you purchase the library, one link for the kontakt and one for the wav files
@SoundsAndGear12 жыл бұрын
yeah that was my first wish, it's a limitation of the kontakt scripting, hopefully it changes in the future
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@lonewolfmcquade84 did you download them? It was a separate download from the instrument, you should have seen two links in the download area.
@SoundsAndGear12 жыл бұрын
yeah they updated it to use the new TS in Kontakt 5, but the slicing issue is a limitation of Kontakt itself no just this library.
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@kb1629 yeah man lol, I would expect it to be there. Maybe in the next product like this or maybe in the update. I'm thinking there has to be a technical reason lol.
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
it's a plugin, you can't load plugins in kontakt but you can load it after or on the same channel
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
@luiswega turn on timestretch so it will match to your current tempo
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
@nstygatr this is a loop library, not a playable ep instrument. I wish they included at least a patch for each instrument used that we could play ourselves.
@monkeybrainspit12 жыл бұрын
Bought this recently and made some great beats. Just really wish there were some more ways to edit in the main window
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
@MaschineHP97 yeah, this joint is nice fam lol, thanks for the comment
@kb162914 жыл бұрын
Looks and sounds great. But +1 for the loop point editing. It's a bit of a surprise that it isn't there. I mean, it's in Kontakt.
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@coffeegarner just use the wav files that come with it, you don't have to use the player, I use the wavs directly in Maschine.
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
thanks for checkin it out, I dig it for sure
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@altosax314 word, thanks for the comments

@jaymart777 it's probably in a zip file, you need to extract it to run the installer.
@FavuQuad13 жыл бұрын
Thx for the review. can you drop a custom wav file in there?
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@hiphopdied1213 cool, thanks for watchin
@SoundsAndGear12 жыл бұрын
Yes I know, you can always take the waves, but it's not the same has having it in Kontakt with all the other options that this interface has setup already. When I want to chop them I just chop the files, but being able to arrange the slices in the interface would be even better given all the options you have right there.
@codyrainwater12 жыл бұрын
@SoundsAndGear I heard you say how it would be great if you could add more slices and/or edit the slice start and stops. I think that would be legit, but a way around it is to take the wav file to slice up on your own in a separate DAW or inside Maschine (if you have it). Just how I worked around it
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
@prasiatenko it is a collection of loops, not multi sample instruments. So you can't play the keyboards, just mess with the loops and phrases.
@Muzicboy312 жыл бұрын
So you could take the wav File and put it into FL studio and chop it up to your liking in there? because these arew dope sounds and if you could chop it up just how you like it that would be a major plus
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@BeauSun572 yeah you can do that, they also give you the wavs by themselves so it's all good. There's def ways around it :)
@prasiatenko13 жыл бұрын
Can you also play the instruments or you can just sample and edit the built-in wavs?
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@prettdboy yeah, chopping per note is a lot different than chopping up a riff :) Two different things in my opinion. I have no problem chopping a note and making an instrument from it, but when it comes to riffs etc, i like to keep that royalty free.
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@CivilIllEnt no doubt man, it's a good one.
@SoundsAndGear12 жыл бұрын
Maybe they no longer do that? I'm not sure, I got it right when it first came out. You can email them and see though.
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@prettdboy I don't sample with kontakt because for one...it can't sample lol. If I want to sample I use maschine, however I prefer royalty free samples over taking stuff from records, etc...which I used to do. But sample clearance is a headache lol.
@BossOfAllMer12 жыл бұрын
I think that if you treat this more like sample pack with some additional tools, and not as an instrument, it is a really great product! Also I like to look at it this way: Who wouldn't like to have George Duke on his album? I would sell my soul, just to be able to make one track with him :)
@SoundsAndGear13 жыл бұрын
yes indeed, I have both as well.

@SoundsAndGear I wasn't aware Kontakt wasn't able to do that.

Would have liked to see a new instrument from NI instead of a loop sampler type deal, but it's good they're giving props to a legend and opening up a new audience to him, he deserves it.
@WyattLite-n-inn9 жыл бұрын
another excellent review ...Much appreciated... on the NI website it says its available as an Audio Unit ...Does this mean it's available in Garage band as well as logic?
@SoundsAndGear9 жыл бұрын

@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@picalo32 no doubt.
@SoundsAndGear12 жыл бұрын
cool man, thanks for watching
@prettdboy14 жыл бұрын
@SoundsAndGear Yeah, true about kontakt not sampling. I meant to chop your own sample. I sample vinyls into audacity and then export them as waves and then chop them in kontakt! I used to have maschine but I switched my whole setup (from ableton & maschine to logic & kontakt!) I think this is a pretty cool instruments, but I can already hear dudes killing the heck out of this whereas if you find a rare piano riff and chop it to the point you cant tell which record it is from you don't need clear
@luiswega13 жыл бұрын
What i dont like about it is that when you take a sample and played on the keys to get diferent tones or chords the BPM goes diferent as well.
@weaponEX14 жыл бұрын
I hope Native Instruments will do more of these, maybe with orchestral or ethnic loop slices.
@SoundsAndGear12 жыл бұрын
@JamesGilbertMusic magically is good for those that like to chop up padres and replay them or if you just need a good ep riff played by the man himself :)
@tomyvelcity11 жыл бұрын
Thx for the review man ! Just a little question, how to connect this plug in to the maschine software ?
@SoundsAndGear11 жыл бұрын
in maschine preferences go to the plugins tab and add the folder for your plugins in there, if you're just using kontakt add the folder you installed the kontakt plugin in so that maschine can see it
@tomyvelcity11 жыл бұрын
SoundsAndGear hum... Let me explain you my situation, im gonna buy this plug in, and I was wondering how to connect it with maschine. But before I buy it, i was just make sure that it will work. So I try to do what you told me to with a free kontakt plug in that I get when I download Maschine softawre (Abbey road 60's kit). The problem is that I doesn't work. I'm using the kontakt 5 player and maschine 1.8 lastest version. Excuse my english because I'm french, and btw I'm just a beginner in maschine, plugs in, etc... Thanks for your help again

@weaponEX yeah we'll see!
@jesusneverexisted3006 жыл бұрын
I am really struggling to piece music together with NI because there is so much limitations. For instance with George Duke's Soul Treasure, how do you change the key the samples are in? It seems to me all you can do is transpose the samples. Transposing only makes the samples sound super slow or super fast. They have a root key but I don't think it changes the key of the sample. If anyone knows how to change the key of the samples, please let me know
@SoundsAndGear6 жыл бұрын
Been a while since I used it, so I don't remember if it is possible to change the key in here.
@jesusneverexisted3006 жыл бұрын

@rufiobeatz because it's already out? I'm not the only one with it, others have been talking about it in forums and such...lol...but yeah I posted the NI videos on my site when they put them out the other day, good stuff.
@jgk38113 жыл бұрын
@jacosmith86 that would be dope, except the instruments they used like the rhodes, clav, grand piano etc can only be recorded as audio. no midi in/out on those old keyboards. great demo, this sounds like a def pick up.
@StEvE1961able13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review. Did you use the full version of Kontakt, or the free one here?
@teeblack0614 жыл бұрын
george duke is dope. this thing sounds really good
@4iamu5 жыл бұрын
Hey bro, you said that this comes with the wavs fir each sample? Where can I find them and what format are they in? In my NI >George Duke ST folder I see tons of files that look like wav samples, but unfortunately I can't open any of them because of some type of weird proprietary NI extension on each file. Thanks in advance, fam!
@SoundsAndGear5 жыл бұрын
This was back in 2010, don't know when but they stopped giving out the wav files with it shortly after the initial release I think.
@4iamu5 жыл бұрын
@@SoundsAndGear That makes sense now. Thanks, bro!
@4iamu5 жыл бұрын
@@SoundsAndGear By the way, do you know of a similar VST engine that offers the ability to audition, play, and manipulate chords and sounds like this, but obviously with more flexibility? It's 2019, so I figure someone would have an offering for us by now.
@SoundsAndGear5 жыл бұрын
Can't say I know of many like this on the market. I think there's one by Mike Kolombo, Golden Keyz I think?

hey bro when you import the song to a wav does your soul treasure loop still play the way you recorded it cause when i try to import the song after I'm done everything played fine except for the george duke loop i used it makes it sound totally of from the way i recorded it

Bought this, love the riffs, slices, great all around except for ONE BIG THING. What do keyboard players (usually) do when they get to the end of a song? THEY PLAY A CHORD!!! either a sustained chord or a short chord to end off. Why on earth did they not include this on each riff? What do you do when you get the end of your song? You're forced to either take a snippet of one of the slices and reverb the hell out of it or try to match your own chord for an out. What were they thinking!!!!
@SoundsAndGear12 жыл бұрын
not in a scripted interface like this, something with the scripting engine they said.

@antonejones25846 жыл бұрын
Can you convert to midi thru logic pro x?
@SoundsAndGear6 жыл бұрын
Not sure, I don't use Logic.
@atlantaguitar96896 жыл бұрын
Not conveniently unless you purchase something like Melodyne which does excellent polyphonic pitch detection which can then give you a MIDI file. Most DAWs have an audio-to-midi function but it's usually for monophonic sources only.
@atlantaguitar96896 жыл бұрын
Here is a video kzbin.info/www/bejne/d37bi5duqbiEp8k where a guy uses Melodyne to convert some of the George Duke phrases into full on MIDI after which he loads up another piano patch to play the same phrase - I suspect just to show that it can be done and still sound good. The version of Melodyne that does the polyphonic conversion isn't cheap but it works well for situations like this. I did it with a Miles Davis tune where I grabbed a guitar and piano sequence and turned it into MIDI - I still had to tweak it to get it right but what it gave back as a first pass was great. I think Melodyne is available in a trial version. Good luck
@prettdboy14 жыл бұрын
needlez does it all the time! You gotta chop per note! Sounds like a lot of work but its really not especially with kontakt! Maschine doesn't have timestretch and that's why I sold it! (Not saying that it was a bad product cuz it was hot but kontakt (too me - my opinion) is better for chopping samples!! It's faster too and you have timestretch plus more effects!
@prettdboy14 жыл бұрын
WHAT UP ST. JOE!!! lol Good Review! I still think your better of sampling your own if you have kontakt 4, but its cool! Not worth $119 tho... that's what you use Kontakt for!
@SoundsAndGear14 жыл бұрын
@prettdboy I feel ya, you'll always have something someone else has, it's all a matter of how you flip it, even if you sample from a record, you're not the only one with it. That's how you come across cats who flipped the same samples lol...it's inevitable really, with so many people in the world. But I feel ya! Don't want to get into the legality of sample clearance so I'll leave that one alone :)
