If you were wondering, the Chinese writing that you mentioned just means "bakelite lower shell". I think that it just present there to assist factory workers during final assembly. I noticed that it was in traditional, and not simplified Chinese, thus it must not have been assembled in Mainland China, but another territory in which Chinese is spoken, such as Taiwan or Hong Kong, that primarily use traditional Chinese characters. (I'm not Chinese, I just took a few classes and I am very interested in the language and culture)

I need to know.. Why the approx 50 containers of various laundry soaps / softeners?
@jaykay183 жыл бұрын
Some people collect comic books, some people collect baseball cards, some people collect coins, some people collect stamps, I collect detergent. People collect a lot of strange things. Happened after I reconfigured my laundry room and ended up with an extra set of shelves that were emptied. I looked at the washing machines (yes, machines, I have 2), looked at the empty shelves, and went to the grocery store and bought one of everything I saw on the shelf. Now I can pick which machine, and which detergent I'd like to use. Search "Detergent Day" on KZbin. You'll find me.

You need more bottles of laundry detergent.

It seems like everyone and their mother have or had a George Foreman "lean mean fat reducing grilling machine" and I still see meany in service today.
@jaykay184 жыл бұрын
I actually have 2 of them, this one and another one that's larger. Depending on what we're cooking will dictate which one we're using. These machines are still sold today. When one of mine goes, I will immediately buy a replacement for it.

Of course it broke in a bad place, there's no stress on the wires in the good places. I know you have already fixed this(or not) but is there any way to snake the whole upper wire harness back through the hinge to the bottom so you can get at the break?

You'll see tomorrow!

Hi Jay, I love your T-shirt. It's one of my favorite animated show's next to Ren & Stimpy. Cheers.
@jaykay186 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I fully agree! Out of the Nicktoons, Ren & Stimpy was my absolute favorite, followed by Rocko's Modern Life, followed by Doug. I never could really get into Rugrats too much. In fact, I found it on late night recently and tried watching it, halfway through I changed the channel. The later ones like CatDog and Ahh! Real Monsters, I could never really get into either.
@jaykay186 жыл бұрын
I should also mention that I tried watching Rugrats before it was on Nickelodeon, it first debuted on VH-1! Friday nights they used to show Gallagher cable show specials, followed by Rugrats. Soon after it went to Nick.
@grlg26 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, Cool and I agree, I think what the difference is with shows like R&S lots of time and effort went into the creative part and not just a 1/2 hour advert to sell toys or candy to children. Cable was not very popular or widespread in Australia until the late 90's so most of those show's were only broadcast sporadically and it wasn't until I got the DVD box sets that I could enjoy watching them. I personally still like to purchase physical media so you have it in your hands. Online everything with DRM is a problem as the rights to view can be revoked at anytime and you agreed to it when you made your purchase (fine print). Or the company collapses and the servers vanish which has happened to me with ebooks so I hate that shit. Sorry for the rant. Cheers.
@jaykay186 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I know what you mean. With physical media, they amended (or tried to amend) the Copyright Act. That used to allow home users to make one duplicate of the media to have as a backup. But DRM prevented a lot of that. I'm not big on physical media anymore, but as long as I have the actual file on my computer, that's good enough for me since they can't revoke rights on just a video file.

jaykay18 i get entertained by watching your videos and you do amazingly and a brave job
@jaykay186 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much. There was no part of being brave in this repair, the thing didn't work anyway, and wouldn't cook properly without both plates getting hot, so I had absolutely nothing to lose going in there. Worst case scenario would be the heating element burnt out, and chances are in that case, a replacement part would cost more than a replacement machine. At that point it's deemed unrepairable, and scrapped for parts. If that would have been the case, I would have taken the power cord, neon light, and thermostat. Best case scenario is that I fix it. See, if there's nothing to lose, I won't be any worse off if it's unrepairable or I break something further. Other repairs, where everything mostly works but one thing doesn't, and it's a complicated machine, there's the risk it'll not work after, or work poorer than it did before. That requires being brave.
