Agreed. I would like to find the rematch between Foreman and Peralta in which Foreman stopped Peralta in the 10th round which was probably the greatest show of late round KO power for young Foreman. Peralta was a really good boxer. Early on in his career he defeated LHW champ Willie Pastrano in a non-title bout and drew with Ron Lyle and Oscar Bonavena.

I have been looking for the second Peralta fight for years. I attended the live fight in Oakland with my dad, my best friend, and my brother-in-law. I would just like to relive the memories once again.

213 lb George Foreman the sidearm wide puncher got exposed by 197 lb Peralta. Ali saw George fade in the late rounds against Peralta and knew what to do against Foreman.

Peralta had an impressive 99-9-9 career record with lots of well known fighters on his ledger. Foreman was the only one to ever KO him.

If he "nearly" punched himself out vs Peralta, he definitely did 4 years later in Zaire.

The version I heard was that there was a misunderstanding in the corner and George mistakenly believed they'd told him the 9th was the final round, so he went out throwing bombs and nearly punched himself out.

True, although Foreman apparently never took Ali seriously. He arrived in Zaire in September about 15 pounds overweight. The delay allowed him to drop the poundage, but he probably did it too quickly.

How do you know he was 15 pounds overweight when he arrived in Africa? I attended his every public workout leading up to his departure to Africa and he was in awesome, absolutely unbelievable shape!

Do you really thinks that this 21 years old Foreman can takes a young 21 years Tyson? I don't

Olama Vincent if it was the same Foreman that fought Frazier then Tyson would look like Frazier at the end.

Daniel Thurmond I wouldn’t say the same cuz he wasn’t as good here as when he fought Frazier

Of course, being unable to train properly for a month prior due to a cut eye probably didn't help his stamina in Zaire...

Ahora se ve claramente la debilidad de Foreman. Otra cosa es poder explotarla, pero al menos ahí estaba.

Ali took all of Foremans punches a lot of them flush. Nobody but Ali could have beaten Foreman that night.

I don't think the fight was very close. Foreman won. This was the blueprint Ali and Jimmy Young later used to beat GF. Reminds me of the blueprint Ali used to beat Liston that he got from Eddie Machen going the distance with Sonny.

For real if this fight was 15 seconds longer Foreman would have lost by Tko \ Ko

There was a story that Foreman was so tired after 8 rounds, his cornerman(Sadler, et al) told him the 9th round was the 10th round. Then when the real 10th round came up, they had to all but push him out into the ring.

@tintinesk2: Ali didn't move against Foreman. The ring that they used in Zaire was actually gotten from a YMCA, seriously. Referee Zack Clayton said in an NBC interview that it had a padded flooring so a moving boxer like Ali wouldn't be able to move easily. Clayton said in the same interview that he felt that Ali had to fight the way that he did out of necessity.
