Foreman is very sneaky with his right-hand. Ask Teddy Atlas how Moorer got knocked out and he'll tell you. Basically, Foreman flicks a short jab out at you and makes sure to miss by a couple of inches. His opponent thinks he's too far away so they think they're safe. So when George throws that big right, they think "No biggie, he's out of range" when suddenly, "WHACK!", you're being lifted off the canvas. George was a very underrated boxer for his savvy.

He did the same thing to Joe Frazier in their first fight.
@godlikerich14 жыл бұрын
Big George had a GREAT jab. He wasn't just a power puncher who was reckless - especially in his later career. I think he was quite relaxed and did a lot of thinking in the ring in his second run at the heavyweight division. Obviously he still had that power but he conserved his energy and put those vicious, clubbing shots together beyond a straight, accurate and powerful jab.
@T4Liam4 жыл бұрын
The guy had a good chin at least 😂 The power in Foreman's punches is huge.

I'm not sure Foreman was the greatest. But I am PRETTY SURE he was the most entertaining. And, the best or not, my favorite athlete EVER. The transformation of his character through the years, I mean, decades of activity are second to none! The Cooney and the Holyfield fights are amazing and his intelligence developed in a very special way with age. The man is a monster!

One of George's best comeback fights. His weight was good, his punches crisp, and of course his power never left him. Sekorski also was a good test as he wasn't a quitter. He tried to pound on George and even when hurt he hung in there to the end.
@milojanis49013 жыл бұрын
He still had a lot of power, but didn't have the same power as he had 20 years earlier. Nobody would. But if Sekorski woulda fought him in the 70s, he woulda known what canvas smelled and tasted like 👍

Foreman offered virtually no defense because his offense protected him. Most of his opponents didn’t dare come in close enough to take advantage lest their fight-if not their career or life-end in a single blow.

George was always very unorthodox with his punching. You could even call a lot of his punches “sloppy”, but he was very effective with that style. I call it the swinging and chopping style and George could get away with it because of his iron chin
@2HitWonder Жыл бұрын
Agreed, and that unorthodox style is one of the reasons I like to watch his fights. The announcers got a little carried away with the criticism.

Foreman's power during his comeback was overrated. He was a strong guy with good punching power, but he was not a one-punch knockout artist. Foreman was a clubbing puncher. This guy Sekorski took bombs from Big George and didn't budge. Just like Lou Savarese did years later against Foreman.
@rockethearse10 жыл бұрын
Haha overrated power. Suuuure. Foreman was 23-0 in his comeback until he fought Holyfield. Those fights lasted an average of 2.7 rounds. That doesn't happen with just average power. Give me a break. And if someone with the chin of Evander Holyfield says no one hit him harder, that's the end of the conversation.
