beware of sadness/it can hit you, it can hurt you/make you sore and what is more, that is not what you are here for That hits home so hard. When Eric Clapton sings this at the tribute concert, he chokes up on these lines and admitted so afterward. What power, to speak with your lyrics to your friends from beyond the grave, warning them not to be too sad about even his own death. Deep af.

The album is clearly the best solo album of any of the Beatles in my opinion. The lyrics, the music, the feel...he'd been saving many of these songs up for years. And he actually has many more unreleased in the "vault", I hope his son releases more of this beautiful soul.

I love this album. George has a gentle quality to his music and blended with his unique guitar style, it just brings a peaceful feeling. He feels like a soul at peace in the knowledge that he has made a great contribution and done so with decency and humility that probably isn’t easy to maintain with the level of his talent and fame. It requires a very intelligent, centered person to survive in that arena where everyone is watching. 🤔hmmm, THC ramblings 😂. Great pick Harri! 🌺✌️

Great point about the combined talent of the Beatles. This album was a flood gate of songs he had written but not released with the Beatles. There are rough out takes with the Beatles (All things must pass) , probably others. Beatles were my favorite group of all time, I was always fascinated with George in particular. So much talent in the Group!

100 percent correct Harry…. Most of these songs were songs George had stockpiled while in the Beatles…. Some were run through by them but never made it onto an official Beatles album…. So when George came to do All things must pass ( Beatles demo)….. he had many great songs that went on to the Album…. My Sweet Lord, if not for you, Ballad of Frankie Crisp, Behind the Locked Door … a George Masterpiece….. this LP could have been 3 Albums separate…. But he decided to release it as a Triple Album Set.

Fun fact: this was George's THIRD solo album actually. He had released Wonderwall Music (soundtrack to a movie by that name) in 1968 and Electric Sound in 1969 (an entire album of George on a Moog Synthesizer, which he then introduced to the Beatles on Abbey Road ("Because," "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," "Here Comes the Sun," and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"). George played the Moog on "Because" and "Here Comes the Sun," Paul on "Maxwell's" and John took his turn on "I Want You."

@John_Chu2 жыл бұрын
@@kentclark6420 No, he never did but Emerson was in a band that played the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany about 4 years after The Beatles last residency there. He said they had to play "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" every set because the record was on the charts at the time. One time he was so zonked from playing three sets a night that he fell asleep at the bar and woke up to the rest of the band playing those songs.

It's tempting to wonder, as Harri does here, that the Beatles could have surpassed the production and performance of the songs from All Things Must Pass. But it's easier to conclude, I think, that THESE musicians who crafted THESE arrangements (who unlike John and Paul were SO eager to deliver the goods to George) brought out the absolute best of THESE songs. Consider the 2 versions of Isn't it a Pity. on ATMP. Version 1 is IMO far more transcendent than version 2. It was this collection of musicians and John Barham's string arrangement that lifts it to the rafters. We'll never know but I don't think the Beatles would have surpassed it -- because the ATMP version is perfection. Same holds for Beware of Darkness.

I agree with you, Guvnor, that it's a shame George's songwriting talent wasn't welcomed by the Lennon-McCartney dynamic duo. He was younger, and they always looked down on him--even talked down to him. John and Paul figured they had enough competition with one another for getting their songs on the albums, the last thing they needed was George getting a piece of the action. However, I disagree with you about Ringo, as he was not a talented songwriter (or singer)...I think the band got the most they could ever hope to get out of him. Nice pick, Scott Walker!

He was not a talented songwriter..But never underestimate the feel he gave those songs with his drumming.Ringo was very wrongfully underrated.
