None of the others were interesting to talk to, so George had no choice but to dominate the interviews. He clearly thought being funny was part of his job, in a way that Tom Petty never did. Even the infamous Dick Cavett interview, while it started slow, really picked up after the first few minutes.

Yes, it is. George became close friends with Monty Python, particularly Eric Idle and Michael Palin. He later financially rescued the film "Monty Python's Life of Brian" after the studio cancelled their funding just before filming was due to begin. In return, he made an uncredited cameo appearance in the movie.
