It's easy to see why Bob likes that song. He would see that as a song he could have written. The way he has arranged it live it feels just like his own. A true master at the top of his game!

A bit too melodic a song with a too tidy arrangement for Dylan. And that chord change in the middle, that's a Beatle thing Bob would never do. Gotta agree he killed it though. Loved his vocals here.

Such close friends? Thank you so much for this amazing post. i was at this show and it was the one and only time I ever left a Dylan show before the lights came on. I missed this song ,which was the second encore, and I have regretted it ever since. All because a friend offered me a ride home and I'd be able to avoid taking the subway. To quote a great Bob cover " Now And Then There's a Fool Such as I "
@ArturArtist2 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you’re able to see it now. I’m not sure anymore - it was so many years ago now. But I’d probably turned off the camcorder and started packing stuff up before it started looking like there could be an extra encore. Luvkily I must have been moving slowly and not gotten much done yet, so I was able to set back up quickly enough to get not just the song but also the introduction. You were not the only person to leave early that night. Some people in front of me were already gone before the end of the first encore, and of those still there, another bunch left before the guys came back for the extra encore. So I had no one remotely in my way and an easy sightline which made getting ready to shoot again that much easier. So anyway, you’re far from the only attendee that night to feel bad they missed it.

@@richardsoucie1648 It seems it never pays to try to beat the traffic. I was listening to a Yankees-Dodgers game in my car a few years back on my way somewhere ( born and raised in northern NJ I’m a lifelong, natural born Yankee fan). The game was at Dodger Stadium. Dodger fans are notorious for both arriving late and leaving early - between LA traffic and southern Californians short attention spans) I forget the exact details, but I think by the top of the 9th or something like that, the Dodgers had at least a 10-run lead. People had started leavimg by the end of the 7th inning and by the start of the ninth the stands were virtually empty. Then the Yankees scored a couple of runs, but after that with two outs it really seemed over. But then the Yamkees loaded the bases and got a grand slam, and I believe they did it a second time and now the game was tied. It went into extra innings and after a couole the Yankees scored and hung on to win. It was obviously a lot more fun for Yankee fans, but I’m sure a lot of Dodgers fans were flabbergasted late that night or the next day when they discovered LA’s loss. And a lot of those listening on their radios as they drove home were no doubt kicking themselves, thinking if they’d stayed to cheer and support their team, it might have made the difference, allowing the Dodgers to nail down what should have been an easy win! 🤣
