I'm taking Ap psychology, and the trick I used to differentiate the neurotransmitter Serotonin from the neurotransmitter dopamine is that dopamine makes you gratified, like from pleasure, and serotonin is your general sense of happiness. George is completely right in the fact that your brain literally gets addicted to certain things because of the dopamine that is released, making you want it more. When you eat ice cream, dopamine is released. In order to feel that again, you need to eat more ice cream. You can't think of the taste and feel the same pleasure. Your brain wants that dopamine again. And let's say you do eat more ice cream; you eat two bowls a day. Eventually, your brain will become accustomed to that same dopamine release, so much so, that you need to eat more ice cream in order to feel that same pleasure. It's the same with drugs. But the point is it's repeatable. Falling in love or working hard on something and seeing it come to fruition is much harder to achieve than these methods of short-term pleasure. But just as they may take longer, they last longer. Looking into your newborn baby's eyes and feeling that joy isn't a pleasure achieving experience. In other words, that doesn't release dopamine, it releases serotonin. The things that seem worthwhile in the long run are the ones that last longer, and make you truly happier.

Why would a survival animal need happiness... Seratonin is rank, happiness never existed (it's a human delusion) Seratonin gives rank (check studies when they give animals seratonin and they go up in the tribal rank) which gives your brain more freedom (allowed actions) and that relative new freedom feels good Dopamine gives it but goes and if it's above seratonin you feel shit That's why the world fucked you wanting higher rank and that makes more ego not happiness. Time taught me that copying our ancient ways boost this it's testing if you're a hunter So full sprints (like) chasing animals gives it, eating meat gives it, exercise.

For me this wisdom was always in the Star Wars movies. Pleasure is the dark side. Joy is the light side. Joy brings peace while pleasure brings corruption. Both is inside of everyone. It's your duty to reflect on what YOU are doing to improve YOURSELF and stay on the path of good. It's not just the new movies where this mindset was lacking imo. I always felt like George's influence was just a shadow in Star Wars the Clone Wars. Yes he was in close contact with Filoni (he is in contact with everything on Star Wars even after he sold it) but I don't think he likes to enforce his will when he isn't primarily in charge. I think he knows that everything that isn't written just by himself is never really going to be HIS vision anyway so he just let's them do their thing. In the Clone Wars the light and the dark side is not something that we carry within us and have to watch. The Good guys are the light, and the bad guys are the dark. I'm good, you are bad. In episode one Anakin resembles innocence and hope. In episode two he is corrupted by his power and pleasure and he is punished for it. In episode three he is struggling to overcome his arrogance and almost succeeds until he is outplayed by Palpatine. He doesn't want to kill Dooku because he knows that it's wrong. Palpatine has to talk him into it. He realizes that he was wrong to lash out at the council and apologizes to Obi Wan. Obi Wans weakness imo is that he himself follows the code and is strict with himself but he is too friendly to guide Anakin in the same sense. When Anakin apologizes he doesn't acknowledge his achievement enough but tells him that it was all good unknowingly supporting his dark side. Even when the chancellor forces Anakin to choose between his wife and democracy he initially chooses democracy by reporting the chancellor to Windu destroying all hope to save Padme. Only in the last moment he gives in and falls to the dark side. In the Clone Wars Anakin doesn't struggle with his darkness but already embraces it in a twisted way to fight for good. He chokes, stabs from behind, the code is just a nice to have wich doesn't apply to him. He only resembles raw strength through unfiltered passion. His character development pretty much stalls to focus the plot onto Ahsoka. At the same time Obi Wan becomes just a total buddy and doesn't really follow the code himself having an affair. Also the story of democracy from the prequels gets completely undermined in my opinion. Palpatine never had to be elected in TCW. He could have executed Order 66 with the brain chip anyways. In episode two it states clearly that the clones are completely loyal and follow all orders. This is why Palpatine becoming the chancellor and getting emergency powers is so important. George was writing a story about self awareness and Filoni was just writing down the same old American moral "Remember that we are the good guys after all!" I enjoyed TCW as a kid but looking at it now while understanding more of the lessons that the movies give it's just a mess and it's kind of sad. So many things from Lucas have been replaced.

@@Silver4Hire the sequels are such a strong exception man. What's there to love? It ruined the myth and legends of the Jedi, it ruined the "science" and rules of the universe (i.e. tracking through hyper speed, hyper speed can destroy ships, 'instant hyper speed travel'), training as a jedi doesn't mean anything if you're born OP (even Anakin the chosen one got his ass whooped and took decades before he could reach his full potential, not in 2 hours) If you're not a Star Wars nerd and don't care about the lore and universe, then are these still good films? Objectively no. The plot is tedious. TLJ was centered around a big space chase. The rebels could only travel faster because they're "lighter ships." Space =/= weight. Finn and Rose traveling to the gambling planet was pointless as it added nothing to the plot. Take that scene away and nothing changes. ROS brought back a dead villian only to die again. The whole plot was a macguffin of the characters chasing objects. The story within the movie itself was inconsistent. I wish i could remember more but i fell asleep watching it. There's plenty of videos on YT shiting on it, i can link a lot. TFA was the only DECENT film but i find to still be a crap Star Wars film. They made Han into a divorced loser 🙄 thanks Disney for treating my hero with respect. Rey kicked a trained Jedis butt the first time she ever turned on a lightsaber. Literally puts every Jedi before her to shame, including Kylo. I can go on So the sequels are bad films and terrible Star Wars stories. As the prequels get better every time you watch it, *_the sequels get WORSE every time you watch it._* I had more fun watching TFA when it premiered vs watching for the 3rd time. If i watch it today I'll probably sleep through it.

I agree so much with this. And the problem I see with the modern consumerist world is that we are putting each other into environments designed for pleasure. When happiness means that we are sitting at home alone infront of the TV or smart phone after work how can we get joy? Where is the social interaction? Social Media has social in its name but it's primarily promoting extremly self centered mindsets and in the end you are not really with anyone. We have to get away from this pleasure life support and back to community. More campfires instead of media.
@Homophobic_racist_sexist_pdf2 жыл бұрын
You can't find happiness while knowing that you will die one day and all of these things will be gone, Everyone you cared about won't follow you into the grave, we are trying to make ourselves forget that we will be Nothing one day by doing things that give us pleasure, and getting pleasure makes us think we're happy but we're not that's why we always try to find more and more ways of pleasure so we don't get bored, it's not about the social media even if it didn't exist that still won't change the fact that we will die one day and all of this will mean nothing, unless you believe in God and the afterlife, because If you do then you always know that whatever happens to you is according to God's plan whether it's a good or a bad thing, which makes you feel stronger during hard times because you don't value this life more than its worth.
@christopherstein20242 жыл бұрын
@@Homophobic_racist_sexist_pdf Well yes, all things will be gone some day but they will still matter as long as they last. I was anxious about death too but I kind of got over it. I don't believe in God anymore but if there is a paradise I think it will be open for all good people. God would be really insecure if he cared so much about what some ants think about him personally that he sets that above his moral values. I'm doing my best anyway. If there isn't a heaven then I guess I'm just going to sleep forever. The 18th century wasn't that bad for me, when I was asleep yesterday and didn't dream it wasn't that bad either. I guess it will be the same in 2122. And life definitely goes on for some time. Not for me most certainly but for relatives and friends. I think leaving a good impression on the world can give you some peace on your death bed. I'm a product of evolution so of course I still want to live, maybe it will be different when I'm old, who knows. Actually I have thought about killing myself if things were to go downhill when I get old. Maybe I couldn't handle it if my wife got sick or died before me. Perhaps it would be better to just leave together. Have a good time with the family and say goodbye, maybe it will change my mind, maybe it won't but in that case I could leave on a high note. If you think you are depressed then try to get some help. I know that there are bad thoughts and no matter how much you think about them you will find something to explain it away. Life isn't perfect but if you are in a healthy spot you can live with that. There's no use in having a bad mood because of things you can't change and our body knows that.

Pleasure is receiving your paycheck. Last an hour, last a minute, last a month.... Just except the fact that it's here and it's gone. Joy is having a net worth of $10b.
