He is an ICON. HIs voice sultry and powerful. His beautiful smile amd flirty eyes melted millions of hearts around the globe. Father Figure, Careless Whisper, Everything She Wants, One More Try and Last Christmas are my most played. Thank you for all the interesting information. Loved the bit about Freddie admiring George. I absolutely am a huge admirer and love, George Michael. From the time that he was with Wham! up until the time of his death, I don’t think there was a day that I didn’t listen to his music. It’s truly a lyrical genius. The passion in which he delivered his music was like no other. His voice was absolutely breathtaking. He really touched me with his lyrics. I think he made things look so easy that people just don’t realize how exceptional he is . I adore this artist, and he will forever be my favorite.

@@currentoflinden Rosemiller. Same here, play his music each day❤❤ It was very bitter-sweet for several years but still got the joy from hearing his amazing work and voice. A different corner is the hardest to hear even now, after the tribute at the Brits. The books from Shirley and Andrew plus the Wham docu have brought a great deal of positivity. The dance versions of his tracks on youtube and discovering some new unheard songs has been lovely.

I really can't say what my favorite George Michael song is. I love them all. George was an amazing human being, musician, writer, singer and philanthropist. We should all still to be a quarter of the person George was. I have tickets for November 3, the induction ceremony. Anytime I can support George, I will be right there. Older is the album that really made me stand up and take notice of the songwriting genius and master craft of George Michael. Faith and Listen Without Prejudice are great albums too but Older has a special place in my heart because it spoke to me in so many ways that no other album has. God Bless you, GM. Most singers carry a tune, and carry it superbly. GM was on another planet. He acts with his voice - expressing heartbreak, despair, desolation, pain, joy, fun. The registry of human emotions - his voice captured it - and reflected back to his listeners. His writing, sense of aesthetics expressed in his videos, and perfectionist dedication to his craft - musical arrangement, engineering and production ... his talent was unparallel. Wish many more of the younger generation would discover his body of work. Most have heard of Careless Whisper - over a billion on YT by now - despite the fact that its release predates YT by decades but don't even know his name, much less his contributions to pop music.

George Michael was one of the most talented people to ever walk this planet. My favorite tracks would be One More Try Kissimg a Fool and Freedom 90. Lyrically and vocally Jesus to a Child is a whole other level. It would be very interesting if you did a video on all of his outstanding covers and duets. What other artist could sing with the likes of Pavarotti Tony Bennett Garth Brooks nevermind Legends like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. Did you know he did backup vocals for David Cassidy who was his original first childhood Idol? He could sing any genre he wanted and was a superior producer and arranger. He played instruments and did his own backup vocals. So talented and a huge loss to the music industry and to Humanity.

Thank you so much for sharing some stats on George's music and awards. I was drawn to pop music by listening to him back in the Wham days and I was hooked on to him since he became solo until now. I consider him to be my number one pop artist of all time. I was lucky enough to meet him in person in 2005 when he was promoting the release of "Patience" album. I went to buy that CD from Virgin Store in the middle of Times Square where I was able to shake his hand and he signed my name on that CD. Later on I was also fortunate to go to his live concert in Philly in 2008 during his last US tour. I think George is one of the biggest star of my generation. He is an Icon that we lost too soon.

I had the pleasure of seeing him perform in a nightclub a few times before fame really took off. What I love about his music is that his the lyrics do not rhyme so he wasn't tied into obvious clichés. His words meant something. As many will say Older speaks out so much. Hands down one of the best vocalist of all time in my opinion. I love all of his music and it seemed that no genre was off limits to him. From his WHAM days, I really love Everything She Wants. When people listen to his music today, they will often say that it was "very much of it's time" meaning it sounded really 80's or 90's, etc. but to me his music always sound ahead of it's time when he put it out. I really love all of his solo music but for me Freedom "90 and Fastlove are standouts. Not only for their sound and composition but also how innovative both of those videos were. He has so many amazing vocal performances, too many to mention but my favorite studio vocal performance is of Stevie Wonder's "They Won't Go When I Go". His live performances were often better than the recordings and the man could cover anybody's song and make it sound amazing. Sadly, the reverse can't be said about other's doing justice to one his songs. We watched George's life progression through his songs - the joy and fun of youth during WHAM, his maturing with Faith and Listen Without Prejudice, the heartbreak of loss with Older (my favorite) then becoming a statesman no longer having to prove anything to anyone with Songs From the Last Century and Patience. What an amazing talent and individual he was and what a gift he has left us. RIP George and Thank You.

I love George Michael he was a great artist & one of my favorite artists of all time & my favorite male artist of all time. I love all his albums BUT my Top 2 favorites are Faith & Patience. I really wish that George Michael would be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame because he wrote all of his songs & most of them he wrote on his own. In a documentary I watched one of the producers said sometimes he would come into the studio w/ no paper in his hand & he would just record whatever song he composed in his head. I think that's really cool 😎 George Michael is indeed a legend & IMO (In My Opinion) one of the most underrated artist from the 1980's era because people don't talk about him as much as MJ, Madonna, or Whitney & he deserves so much more respect & recognition for work , achievements , and his impact on pop culture & music.

Well, I am one of those who was living under a rock ! 😢 I'm 68 & I "found" George 8 months ago ! I remember hearing "GoGo" when my daughter was young, but I didn't know George or Andrew's name ! About 10 years, or so, ago, I did hear him sing Freddie's tribute, on you tube, but for some reason, I didn't look up any other of his music ! I even remember when he passed away, & thought, how sad that he was so young ! 😢 BUT, in Jan. 2023, by chance, or maybe not, a video of his, came thru my you tube page, so I watched it ! I couldn't believe this man's voice & I thought, what have I missed all these years ??? I watched another & another & couldn't quit Watching & listening to that voice ! Truly so upset, that I missed out on George for all those years ! 😢 But I am a Lovely now...and forever ! 💜 I am COMPLETELY IN LOVE & OBSESSED with him ! I watched every video, documentary & interview I could find...Wham!, too ! I bought all George & Wham!'s cds, some dvds, & books, including Bare ! I have a life-size cardboard cutout of George in my craft room ! ❤ I already have my 2024 calendar of George & I love it ! Magnets, mugs, throws ! Even my license plate is his birthday ! I really have tried to make up for lost time ! I have listened to him every single day since that day in early Jan. & I hope to not ever miss a day ! So, I guess I came out from under my rock ! ❤Love you, George ! ❤

@@lavenderfields2910 It is funny for me to read your reply because I didn't really discover him until after his death either. It was about two years ago for me when I was looking at something else on You Tube, I think it was Elton John, and he popped up singing "The Long and Winding Road" and boy was I reeled in. All I could think was that he sounded better than Paul McCartney. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. That made me go back and listen to "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" when he did the duet with Elton John. I remembered seeing it many times before and thinking he shouldn't be singing Elton's song, but I realized how beautifully he did it. I was a goner then, and like you started listening to everything I could find and that's when I found out he had passed away. It broke my heart. Around the same time, I had discovered another singer whose voice and guitar skills were so beautiful and I was telling my husband about her and when I looked her up on Google, she died in 1996! I really struck out on new discoveries two years ago, but I did find great music. The woman is Eva Cassidy and thankfully someone found her recordings and created albums.

I think his voice, IMO is the best voice EVER. as in the best male voice that ever existed. the tone of it, and not even going in to the power and control of it. he is one of those rare singers that sounds as good and better than the studio version. thats rare. usually most singers do all the tricks of the trade to build up their voice. not George, he only did so for effect. having said that, there is one performance of mine that I enjoy...its when he was playing a part of a hospital patient singing on some british TV show....for the first time I heard his voice brought down to human level, and I enjoy hearing him with NOTHING on his voice, and its on youtube, look it up.

George was a extremely talented and versatile vocalist, songwriter and producer. George loved R&B particularly and this is why so much of his music had that flavor. Getting #1's on the R&B charts was a huge pride of George's. A very nervous George at only 21 would perform with and highly impress the legendary Stevie Wonder . Stevie being classic Stevie would even decades later jokingly fake surprise that George was white. George would do Stevie covers like "As " with Mary j. Blige with Stevie's total blessing . He wrote Careless Whisper at 17 but what wasn't said here is that George worked with iconic R&B producer Jerry Wexler on the song first . The result just wasn't exactly what he as the artist envisioned. George scrapped the Wexler version to re record and produce the iconic version we all know and love himself . He was so intent on getting exactly what he envisioned for that iconic sax part down he went through 8 players until the 9th managed to finally get it right. This shows George's talent and drive to give his all as a musician .

He worked with and performed with so many incredible artists! The story about the sax line is a good one for sure. Having gone through so many session players that played it "perfectly", he finally found someone who could play the emotion more than the notes, shows his real genius in being able to present more than just the composition, more than just a great melody or vocal, but the internal emotion attached to all of those things. He invites you into his story and allows you to make it yours. Amazing

The day when I'm taking the time to watch sun rise (particularly in winter time ) I like put on "Songs from last century" (cover album from various artists and very jazzy ). I still miss him and know it will be for ever. He was, and had so generous hart. And great sens of humour.

His official website states over 120 million and I believe it was ChartMasters that lists the sales as 147 million including all formats, duets etc. No matter what he is one of the biggest artists ever and an unbelievable talent...and his sales are still ongoing! What about the brave lawsuit he took against Sony to get control of his masters, I dont know whether that was before, after or during the time that Prince took on Warner Bros for the same reason. Prince was one of the few people to speak up for George Michael when he was arrested in 98 in LA.

Thank you for watching and thanks for the comment! I try to avoid some of the ugly parts of artist's careers and focus mainly on their music and impacts on the industry, but you are right that was a big deal. One that landed him with a DreamWorks contract and his Older album (my favorite). He was the first musical act signed to them. Strange thing is he ended up back with Sony, although now with his Aegean label, funny how things work. As I do more of these commentaries I am finding that lawsuits and struggles over ownership and credits is more the norm than the exception, it's too bad. Thanks again!

He did not die of heart failure. As a George Michael fan I thought you’d have known that.heart failure is not the heart just stopping, it’s a disease in itself. It’s the heart’s inability to pump blood around the body. You get swollen ankles or legs, dizzyness and fainting. George died from Dilated Cardiomyopathy which was either inherited or induced by drinking too much, myocarditis which is inflammation of the heart muscle which usually follows a virus (this may be that George wasn’t feeling very well the night before he died so he maybe went to bed early. It does make you feel unwell but when my ex husband had it he didn’t realise how serious it was so it’s easy to put down to something minor). Myocarditis can basically ‘strangle’ your heart. The heart stiffens and along with the dilated cardiomyopathy it can cause the heart to slow down and eventually stop. He’d have felt no pain. He also had a fatty liver. This confirms drinking issues. I know his ‘cousin’ and personal assistant Alex, who had Abbey after George died. He lived in the Highgate house after his death until it sold. I never was lucky enough to go in, but I was there the day they were emptying all of the furniture into small vans. People were taking their own furniture out and possibly items they had been given. I’m also friends with Andros but I don’t speak to him much and don’t condone his selling of untrue stories which is why George stopped speaking to him.

I would like to say firstly, thank you for watching the video. I am honored that someone who was in George's circle of friends watched it. I would like to respond to your comment on his death as well though. I didn't intend to mislead anyone or share false information, this commentary was intended to share the amazing things that George for the music industry outside of the incredible music he created. As a fan I didn't feel the need to share any of the struggles he had to deal with nor to detail the tragedy of his death, but instead to celebrate his enormous contributions to the world, and I know that I only scratched the surface. Understanding that dilated cardiomyopathy is a common cause of heart failure and in essence creates a breakdown of heart function I stated it as such, there was no offense intended. Thank you again for watching!!
