LOVE LOVE this one Andy !!! and coinsides well with the Andrew Ridgeley biography I am reading at the moment ...It was funny reading all about when george michale started at your school...the teacher told everyone the correct way to pronounce Georges first name and instead of saying it with G ..she said its promounced with a Y so Andrew said it sunded like you were saying 'yogurt' hence why he began calling him Yog ha ha Enjoyed your stories from the past connected to both him and Andrew ....I used to work in St Tropez in a bar called Josephs bar right on the front of the port and George used to come in 🥰 As for Andrew, i used to sing proffesionally and record for various artists and was asked to do carless whisper for someone back when social media was just becoming a usefull tool for advertising your venus etc and Andrew saw one of my posts and sent me a lovely private message of good lucky and a couple of other messages and he wuld always used the word 'missy' when saying hello or at some point of the messages ha ha Thank you for this chat aboutthese books and George Michael Little sleepy head Jim is in dream land there all content ha ha Have a great Friday Andy ..Very much enjoyed this as i do all of yours talks and show and tells x🥰

Hey there ! ..That's awesome !! Thanks so much for your kind message !! I knew you were a professional singer as you are just so really amazing at it !! Yeah.. I had more contact with Andrew than George.. as Andrew used to live closer nearby my family home.. and we often used to be in the same pub at the weekends.. plus we went to the same Cassio college in Watford.. (George wasn't a student there !!) ! The pub was called The Gate in Chorleywood and I once saw George in there with Andrew (when they were in Wham !) and they got mobbed by all the ladies!! (Yes that's correct George's name in Greek is pronounced with a 'Y' ..my brain !! lol) George started out gigging in a Greek restaurant up my street called the Bel Air in Rickmansworth road.. and he was an amazing performer even then !! How freakin' awesome that you worked in St. Tropez.. I have surfed Galiote beach on numerous occassions and loved that place !! I'm so glad that Andrew acknowledged you wonderful talent.. then again he was as I remember a very kind bloke and always looking out to praise people he admired ! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video my friend ! I was a little nervous making it as I know I am losing my marbles now and cannot remember as well as I used to ! There is a great documentary about George which you have probably seen but I will leave a link below just in case you haven't !! Very best wishes to you as always.. Have an amazing weekend !! Andrew started calling George Yog, because he heard George's parents call him that and Andrew went to school the next day and he started referring to him as YOG. There was also talk that YOG could mean Yours Only George. I have read a lot of books about him, but went on holiday and was going to start reading Careless Whispers it didn't work out that way. I think I'm going to need to make a start on it. I must stop saying if what is being in these books whether it's lies, truth or like this correction or I'll become a nuisance 😂

Andrew had visited George's house and heard his parents call a name and went into school and said his parents called George Yoghurt which than got shortened to Yog? He had 2 sisters, Melanie and Yioda. Melanie passed away 3 years exactly on the 25 December. Don't believe everything that's written. The best book to read is Bare, George took part in the writing of that book so we know it's true. He read the start of that book when he done an interview, he wouldn't have read it wasn't, it's written by Tony Parsons. I'm a big fan of George's this is why I know about the books. To many lies in Older. The pronunciation of his name is hard to write so everyone can say it. He had a middle name Kyriacos. He pronunciation his full name in an interview with Michael Aspel. It was more like fun when it was Wham, when he went solo there just seemed to b so much pressure. Incredible man and an amazing voice and such generosity, he didn't want people to know of the money he was giving to Charities, he even gave to people that he new had money problems. The like of George Michael we will never here again, cuz there is only 1 George Michael, tribute acts couldn't sing like him. He is missed and loved the world over

Thanks so much for your detailed comment which is very much appreciated. As you say the philanthropic nature of George was incredible and I remember that he was like that from the start. He used to DJ/ sing as entertainment in a Greek restaurant on the Rickmansworth road in Northwood, London back in the early 1980's. It was called the Belair and is still going. www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/5729852.belair-restaurant-in-northwood/ He often only got paid in the form of a meal. His father owned another successful Greek restaurant in Edgware. I used to collect and wash glasses and plates as a 16 year old at the Belair working as a 'busboy' I often bumped into George and he was a very calm and kind person. This was months before he was a superstar. I also went to the same college as Andrew (Cassio college, Langley road, Watford) which has sadly now been demolished and is a housing estate. Andrew was the year ahead of me but I saw him in the recreation room all the time.. often with the prettiest girl in college on his arm. He too was a very kind and gentle character. Between George and Andrew there was not a thread of arrogance at all.. and no real clue as to the famous people that they would later become ! One of Andrew's girlfriends was a very pretty lass called Shirlie. I remember her too. She is married to Martin Kemp from the famous band Spandau Ballet.. and Shirlie had her own band with her friend Pepsi. Thanks again for taking the time to leave your message !!.. very much appreciated as I say !

@@JimTimber It was Pepsi and Shirlie and I think George wrote 1 of their songs, Don't think it was Heartache. Watching his interviews with Michael Parkinson(RIP) you will get a lot of information, but it's the interview were George is the only one getting interviewed, there's some funny stories in it but then this is George we are talking about, there's nothing that can't do. Such a loss to the world of music😢

@JimTimber , It always made me very sad that the tabloids really stuck it to him. Frankly, I felt like it was none of my business. who he loved, who he slept with. His private romantic life was his very own, and he had a right to keep it for himself. I think the media really drove him down a path that was a bit destructive. It's such a shame. I will always admire and revel in the music.

His producer had some videos up on YT long ago, and talked about how serious GM was about his vocals. They’re incredible to say the least. One of the most prolific singers of my lifetime, without question. After Wham his solo album Listen Without Prejudice was a glimpse into what would have been an incredible collection. Too bad it stopped at Volume 1. At least we have that, I’m thankful. Gone too soon. May he rest peacefully. 🙏

Melodically, and even lyrically, Wham! had strokes of genius. Ray of Sunshine, Come On! (esp. the part where he sings ''oh no, don't think that I'm not scared...'', Like a Baby, Heartbeat, Careless Whisper, Blue, Last Christmas etc. As a pretty miserable straight teen (guy) I wasn't attracted to GM, I wanted to BE GM! We haven’t really talked about it and we’re probably gonna share a video sometime coming up place he has been through a lot in her life, but she has a very strong soul and a fighter. George, however, is not he’s just not in his nature, we will see how the next couple of weeks ago and probably do an update on how things are going. We haven’t really talked much about it because it’s kind of been progressing very quickly.

Grazie per la visione ! Avrei pensato che ci sarebbero stati libri disponibili in lingua italiana su George!? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402287819918?hash=item5daa38fc8e:g:9KMAAOSwjTle3On3&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8HpOnaFYainFcgDXOGfW9dEW58HWME6PewfCv0QtyeEOlEEnjtbMN0Fz%2FBl8VoCAPBp1u%2FfgIq8ku97Ro74iD%2B2E3sJfGliTcld5yYihrBS4%2Beue0e06t0k2KaFNA0LDRJZd3GADBrbSslWYUAcODjuOWFjthub8lhdrDRJtojb1CmbsDvndJCYW9rUnVoZZUIkERSI7lXZn1s51iN1plNl3qRV4grbvUuyIdm%2BDplhBgqZ27o2qyGCARCWG3bR0dZEmtpsUziygpimPdABiuqAd62mZduZL4adDmexCA1Gcxc%2B56fApgusrJfeing6vmQ%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8q1wZa9Yg Questo è ridicolmente costoso però !!

Do I like George Michael's music? No, not really though at the same time I don't dislike it either. The early stuff was bubblegum music that was part of the times that I grew up in while his later stuff was more of a ballad style which I wasn't really into. However, interesting video and I watched it to the end. I was aware of Wham from the early 80s, of course, and also heard his solo output but I was never a fan of that Rock & Roll Royalty scene that he was such a big part of. Nothing wrong with George Michael but he wasn't part of the musical scene that I followed even though, of course, he formed part of the background culture of the 1980s / 90s that I lived through. I did watch Yog as a child, though: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioTTe4uMhZmUnas

Ha ha ! thanks for the Yog link Al bro !! Yeah I was not into Wham because it was followed by screaming 13 year old girls which used to give me a real migrane !! lol (I was after all a fully mature 16 year old !! lol) I found George's later works very good for romancing the ladies and often had one of his albums on if I was sharing a bottle of wine with my latest squeeze ! I admit that I am not George's number one fan.. but the fact that I met him and then watched him become a supernova of pop music was very intruiging ! I think that Shirlie Holliman was the brightest out of all the Wham 'sparklers' ..shame she didn't take her career further as she could sing like a song thrush !! Have a great weekend ! I've replied to your kind email my friend !

@@JimTimber Yeah, I remember Pepsi & Shirlie. She is married to one of the Spandau Ballet Kemp brothers and does come on TV from time to time, usually retro music shows. She and her husband also sang together a few years ago and had an album out, so she is far from forgotten here in the UK. She also sang with that Spice Girl you like, Ginger Spice.
