I absolutely love these ! These are more realistic and dystopic than those edgy and colorful Ingsoc posters I see on DeviantArt and Tumblr. Sometimes people sink too deep into creativity and show off their art skill while forgetting what the atmosphere of the novel is. Your posters match the setting of 1984 perfectly: old, bleached, colorless, anti-creativity, war-torn and oppressive.

These are two completely different approaches to managing people, Ingsoc is America that liberals and democrats want to build, an ideology built on hatred and denial of reality, we have been living in it since the 90s, the Soviet Union is an ideology built on socialism and friendship between different peoples, Ingsoc erases humanity, and the Soviet Union, on the contrary, preserves it, not allowing society to fall morally, Ingsoc is more like modern liberal democracy with propaganda of fascism and eternal war, with ideas for rebuilding human society into embittered animals, that's the joke, Big Brother now is Biden

Orwell said, "Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it."

I always wondered what the conditions would be to join the Oceanian military. Even if the war is fake, the military and the floating fortresses seem to exist, so how would one even join it?

If the war really is a reality I imagine that it's not as bad as in wars of the past. To quote the novel, "in a physical sense war involves very small numbers of people, mostly highly-trained specialists, and causes comparatively few casualties. The fighting, when there is any, takes place on the vague frontiers whose whereabouts the average man can only guess at, or round the Floating Fortresses which guard strategic spots on the sea lanes."

I’d imagine volunteers from the Inner/Outer parties, or conscription from the Proles. For the parties, idea of joining up to fight for Oceania and Big Brother must be something of a dream. For the Proles, a promise of a full belly and a place to sleep may be enticing enough. That is, of course, if the war is real. They could go so far as to execute the people they ship off to the front, just to keep the illusion of the war is raging. Maybe the 3 governments willingly gift eachother “prisoners” for public executions. There is no way to know, no way for anyone to ever know. That’s the point.

I'd say the most noteworthy one here for me would be the poster at 2:15, it really goes to show what this propaganda looked like for the Oceania citizens in 1984. Where in the perspective of Winston Smith, he knows that these "heroes" are fake and are only there to provoke feelings of patriotism and a false sense of security. Shown when he writes about this war hero, Captain Ogilvy. Although I do think all these propaganda posters are great, this one just stood out to me. Double plus good!

@@raymay4929 I read the book a bit and watched the movie and it seems to me that the whole thing is basically that we don't even know if we are in 1984 at all. 1984 is what Winston remembers being the current year. In 1984 there is no past, future or even a present. History is completely thrown out the window and Truth is decided by the Party. - We could very well be in 1994 but since technological innovation and progress has been so stagnated due to the Atomic War that the three Megastates engaged in many decades prior, and the overall control of the Party which certaintly halts a lot of progress in general, we still have World War 2 weapons being mass-produced. They are cheap, quick and effective for a perpetual war anyhow. The point isn't to win. It's to perpetuate war as a means for absolute internal power. The Party took power in Britain after World War 2 from what I gather and it hasn't really changed ever since in that aspect. It's still World War 2 Britain. They could've very well just reverse-engineered Soviet weapons at this point and started using them as well.

It probably has something to do with language structure, "crimethink" can be paraphrased "as crime of thought". I mean if "thinkcrime" was paraphrased into "thought of crime", the message is then lost in interpretation. I have "thought of crime", but what is the crime? That's why it's better arranged as "crime of thought". What is the crime? Thinking the wrong way.

@TheGamingMotionTGM "crimethink" sounds like a verb, "im crimethinking" sounds better than "im thinkcriming". But saying "he committed a think crime" sounds better. Tho i read the book in Turkish and its called "düşüncesuçu" which just means "thinkcrime" so maybe thats why i prefer thinkcrime
