@MrImiller0711 жыл бұрын
From all accounts, including interviews with Jack Larson and Noel Neill, Reeves was a generous and decent man who appreciated his fans and what the Superman series had done for his career, but simply wanted to move on to other projects, including directing features and acting in non-Superman projects. Today, Henry Cavill, the current Man Of Steel, is playing Napoleon Solo in the Man From UNCLE movie and Robert Downey acts in Sherlock Holmes films and other roles. Reeves was unappreciated.
@valerieaugustine80835 жыл бұрын
I think back in the 1950's when he was so popular the actors then became more typecast because television was still so young and they didn't really have much to move on too. Today it is different and one who is so popular in a series can become sort of typecast but not for long they go to other venues. Tom Selleck is a good example. Magnum to movies etc and Blue Bloods. Dean Cain moved on from Superboy, Michael Landon from Little Joe, Pernell Roberts from Adam, Robert Conrad from James West, Robert Horton from Flint, Farrah Fawcett from Charlie's Angels, and so on. Back then not so many shows and gosh George Reeves had it hard to transition. Too bad he didn't live now and could have gone on to many things.

George Reeves lived a very odd life. He had an affair with a married woman he had no future with. He didn’t have children and Hollywood took his career away from him and the press ruined his identity by always calling him Superman in the newspapers. George Reeves had fun playing Superman but Hollywood made his life difficult because of it. That’s a lot of weight for the poor guy to carry. I wish he stuck around to see all the out pouring of love that came his way after his passing. Little did he know Superman and superhero projects were the future for entertainment popularity. If only he’d known 😢

@KonElKentАй бұрын
Hollywoodland, though a good neo-noir in its own right, plays fast and loose with a few facts in Reeves' life. -Stories of From Here to Eternity being cut due to the heckling of his scenes are verifiably false. All extant copies of the shooting script contain the same scenes for his character as are in the finished film. There is no record of an alternate cut being released in the 1950s when Reeves was alive. It might stem from changes from the novel where the character appears more, but they made a LOT of changes for the adaptation. -Though some sources attribute the story of the kid bringing a real, loaded gun to a public appearance and only being dissuaded from shooting at him because the bouncing bullets might hurt someone else to Reeves himself, the lack of records of it happening make it apocryphal at best. -George Reeves actually did tour in a wrestling show with Gene LeBell. It proved successful enough that another tour was planned after his wedding. -Fellow cast members have said that he was reasonably upbeat about returning to film another season of Superman; largely because he was going to direct more episodes, which he hoped would further help him move behind the camera in career. But then the movie is really about Louis Simo finding his own contentment in life, so take the whole thing with a grain of salt.

First, it wasn't "her priest" who she confessed to, but was some Publicist named Edward Lozzi (and claimed to live with her until she died), who claimed she made her "death bed confession" to him. And she said nothing about her personally having ordered it, but only said, "Eddie had George taken care of". It's on utube. And secondly, your belief as fact that Alzheimers "takes away the short term memory and leaves only the long", is as nonsensical as Toni "having had confessed" to her Priest!
@judyv324611 жыл бұрын
Well, Toni Mannix confessed on her deathbed to her priest that she personally hired the hit on George... She later suffered from Altzheimers, which takes away the short term memory and leaves only the long, so she had to live with what she had done. Why didn't George Reeves, Noelle Neil, Jack Larson, Phyllis Coates, the directors, film crews hold a Superman Convention for fans? I bet they would've made a lot of money in the conventions. George Reeves, instead of wrestling because he couldn't find work when the Adventures of Superman (AOS) got cancelled, could've made money signing autographs, holding talk, and Q & A seminars of behind-the-scenes going on in the filming. He could've also have written a book about his life and the special effects used in the AOS filming.

Firstly, I have a masters in psychology, and do have some background in work with Alaheimers...it takes the short term memory, leaves the long term... Secondly, I have contacted Mr. Lozzi and he confirmed that Toni confessed to her priest the murder.
