jazzman99000 IT is much better than the new ones with two ventiles. Got one with one too and a Tenor with no ventile. these Are much better because you learn playing really good on them

George Roberts was my Bass Trombone coach while in the Jazz program at SDSU circa 1991. He was fantastic. One day short on practice rooms at our usual music shop, we did an entire lesson in a very small bathroom. Acoustics weren't bad...George was dedicated.

I believe he's actually on a Conn 72H, it sure looks like mine. The Remington mouthpiece would also lead me to believe as such.
@STinOC13 жыл бұрын
@arniesarnies Actually that is a single trigger bass. I can say with very little doubt (since I had the privilege of studying with George for a little while) that it is probably a Conn 70h or maybe the Olds P-22 (I think that was the number) those were the horns George spent most of his time on. George played a single trigger for most of his career.

This is not a Conn 70H. I own one. The 70H tuning is in the slide.

So I own both 1953 70H ( just as Meet Mr Roberts model ) and a 1967 72H. I often interchage the outer slides as using the rose brass 72H outer does lighten the blow a little so I think George most likely used this set up, also there is no large brace on the J bend, just three smaller one's exactly like my 70H. Just my thoughts......Al

His tone and sound is just fabulous despite the tune being quite an oldschool one. Have a question: owning an old trigger, Bb/F valve trombone, probably late 19-th century, how do I tell whether it is a tenor-bass or a single valve bass? The bell is 9,2 " and the bore 0,54 ". Thanks in advance.

@@Juan_Bone09 Thank you though I` m still convinced it is one of the early trigger basses when the large G or F bass trombone was being essentialy replaced by the new concept of adding an attachement which later evolved became the modern symphonic tenor.

Actually, its just a gag. They are pretending to hit their trombones, maybe as if they were "unworthy." Haha. But in reality, its just the percussionist hitting something like a cymbal, some of his other equipment, or a brake drum.
