They didnt forget the history. Arya and Sansa talked about Ned after they killed Littlefinger and specifically said they missed him. Jon also brought up Ned whilst they were all at the dragonpit in episode 1 of season 8. It was made very obvious even in the show that Ned still had a massive impact on all of his family member who still lived and that they all loved and missed him dearly. At least show wise, it seemed to be Arya who loved, admired and missed him the most, even though in some ways she was the least like him. Arya never had Ned’s sense of honor and was always more pragmatic. As for they never thought of revenge, are you kidding? Arya was completely consumed by her thirst for revenge and killed all the men in the Frey family for that.

Jon’s another one I like, but Sansa’s the absolute worst. Arya and Bran became awful, and Rickon was just a child.

@@mr.k418 Sansa gets better for me in season 6 to then point where she’s pretty cool. I really enjoyed Arya’s character all through the show but I don’t think we got enough time with Bran to really like him much

Robb Stark reminds me a lot of Carolus rex, a Swedish king who ascended to the throne at the age of 15, he fought against Russia and Prussia and beat them again and again, outnumbered most of the time, through stragetty, but eventually still lost the war and his life at the age of 36 despite winning most of the battles. Just like Robb they both came from nation up in the north.

Really good video & very informative. However, when you refer to James II of Scotland you actually show a picture of James VII of Scotland, who also reigned as James II of England.

The character I prefer in all this story. His team with the Blackfish made Westeros shake against all odds. If Theon didn't failed him, provoking the chain of events that made him fall for Jeyne Westerling, who knows what he would have made...

When I was in the Army during the early 2010s we had a Campbell and a MacDonald posted to the same unit. After the very first roll call they were involved in a fight broke out between them. They beat each other bloody. After they sorted that out, they became the best of friends and would not tolerate anyone else insulting the other. "I can talk about that bastard as I please, you will not."

Another historic event which maybe didn't inspire the Red Wedding but certainly is a lot similar is the Stockholm Bloodbath of 1520. After the Danish king Christian II (in Sweden known as Christian the Tyrant) has successfully conquered all of Sweden including the Capitol of Stockholm (although it was not the *official* capitol but still the largest and most important city in the country) he invited all of the noblemen, bishops and lords to Stockholm being totally forgiven for fighting against the Danish king. Almost all of the noblemen came to this feast which lasted for three days, on the fourth night the city gates were sealed and the Danish soldiers arrested all of the Swedish lords and ladies, during the next few days at the square in todays Old Town a good one hundred people were executed for "heresy" but mainly treason.

2:18, pretty sure that's a portrait of James II of England, Ireland and in Scotland he was called Jame's VII, who lived in the 1600s 1440. The numbering for kings names James is different in England and Scotland because James VI of Scotland separately became king of England and Ireland, but for those was styled the first because England hasn't had a king called James yet.

3:46 something similar happened in Native history of Haiti, at the time of the Spaniards' conquest...they invited queen Anacaona (a Native woman) to a meeting or something, maybe to a banquet, and they killed her and her men...don't remember how, but a fire was involved, they might have locked them in a house and burned it down...

Looking at English legends and myths, (I know that Robb is based on both the real Marquis of Montrose & young Edward IV), I sometimes wonder if his story parallels Robin Hood. It was GreatJon Umber that first got me thinking about this (wondering both at his name sounding like an invert of Little John & his son SmallJon Umber), but then I began to think about other aspects of Robin Hood's story - he ambushes and surprises his enemies, he fights against an unjust ruler (Prince/King John) and is literally bled to death by someone holding an old grudge against his family (in Robin's case, a nun from a family disinherited by his father [?]). Does this seem like a plausible theory to anybody?
