Very well done. Truly shows the problems our country faced immediately after fighting for independence. Sure everyone does movies about the Revolution but no one showed what happened next. Washington really did what it took to forge us into ONE nation. I also found it awe inspiring considering the political issues of today. Washington said political parties would divide and destroy us, he was right. The movements he did to lead by example in this just amazing. Washington truly put the people first, and the nation was his full devotion. He knew if he did X or Y it might cause the nation to break apart. So he brought Federalist and Jeffersonian together and sought common ground. We can learn something from this part of history. We need to come together figure out was best for everyone and do it. No more of this Left or Right crap, what's best for the US as a whole. What won't tread upon my rights as a citizen and what will better the nation as we head further into the 21st century.

@@larrylewis6771 The Cherry Tree incident is true. Mason Weems never wrote that George chopped or cut the cherry down. Weems actually wrote "barked off the tree" meaning that George peeled the bark or cut the bark off the tree like peeling an apple or peeling the skin of an apple. This word has been misinterpreted by some later historians to mistakenly mean cut or chop down, but they're wrong. Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary says barked here means peeled or peeled off(the bark of a tree).

I really enjoyed part 1 & 11 mini series of this period in history and I do believe George Washington was a truly great man. I like the way he worked on temperance in his character above all, although he seemed to have quite an angry streak in his early years. The seat of government is a hotbed of scorpions displaying discord, attracting lust, greed and egoistic suspicions. This tendency as we experience it in the headlines and internet today has only gotten worse and the press is much to blame for it as well as those who act out the machinations. The actors here all did a tremendous job of portrayal. I've learned a lot by watching.

1:51:50 this happened closer to Washington's death in 1799. Chris was a loaner slave and not GW's direct slave. When GW died Chris wasn't freed. When Martha died in 1802, Chris wasn't freed. GW lied to him. Tragic. The honorable thing to do would have been to buy Matty and let them both escape.

Yep!! All this "GW is cool" bs is 'typical' re-writing of the real brutal truth. Washington, Jefferson, and the rest violently 'forced' themselves onto scared defenseless enslaved little girls who became impregnated by these "so-called" heroes. The kind of history that is brushed under the carpet...the honorable thing to do for GW and the rest of them was to take a few 'stripes' from a cat-o nine whip to get an idea what violence the enslaved people had to endure....

Americans used to know how to make good propaganda. I couldn't stand Washington before these two miniseries. 9 and a half hours later and I'm clapping along with everyone else for this heroic man.

16:45 The Senate Chamber in Federal Hall NY looked nothing like that. It was smaller, with green walls and red drapes, and had no area for public viewing. (even Congress Hall in Philadelphia had to add one after the fact) This resembles more the House Chamber but without the fine columns and blue damask... TL;DR: I spent $20 to read an article reconstructing Federal Hall and I will not stand for this bad history.

Changing that famous dinner to a fishing trip and substituting Madison with Washington is taking too much liberty on history
@KindessisEternal
@KindessisEternal 8 ай бұрын
actually, this actually did happen. Washington took Hamilton and Jefferson fishing to try to get them to agree tentatively to the deal. The Dinner came later, where all three men (Jefferson, Madison and Hamilton) hammer it out.

Jefferson is badly miscast, oh well. And I find it hard to believe people just casually enter Washington’s house all the time for these important discussions. But it’s a miniseries from the ‘80s. It generally represents the main events, if consolidated. I hate how Washington died, such a treatable thing later, he got poor medical attention.
