When my wife and I married we would relax after a long week, listening to this.I just looked it up on KZbin for the first time in so many years, I stoped listening to music when she passed away six years ago, It brought me back to a wonderful time, Unbelievably cried for I don’t know how long just listening reliving and loving. I guess I really needed that. Now I watch my grandkids so my daughter can finish college and I love my family so much but my Soul is so so lonely For just one day again, George Winston, fire in the fireplace, Glass of wine looking into eyes that make my heart jump and my body shake out of the love I see

Tom Word Dearest Tom, the process of aging isn’t for sissies. You just poured you heart out, and it was a beautiful story. My husband & I are in our early 70’s. We started dating at 15 & 17. My girlfriend sent me this album in 1983, when I was stationed overseas in the military. She was a pianist, and she knew that I loved to listen to her play. "This album reminds me of you!" she wrote. In fact, it reminded me of her, and I played the tape so many times that I ruined it and had to buy another. And another. And then a vinyl record. And then a CD. When I returned from overseas in 1986, she wasn't interested in me anymore. I never got over her, never stopped listening to this music. It is a part of my life and my heart. Thank you, George Winston. I miss you, Beth.

I share a similar story as @tomword. I was a young bride. I married a musician when I was 19. My husband went to Berklee College of Music and loved listening to George Winston, Will Akerman and Michael Hedges. We settled in Mill Valley, Ca. at the time and my husband played George Winston during those long beautiful afternoons. I remember looking out over the hills of Marin through the redwoods with Autumn playing in the background. I was in a wonderland as I watched the afternoons fade into dusk. My husband passed away 4 years ago and this music makes me wish for one more day with him -Just one day! This music really helped to shape me into who I am today.

My husband passed away 3 1/2 years ago and all these sad comments make me sad and nostalgic, too. We all used to just sit and listen to music in college; before videos, cell phones, noise. I miss those times. Seems we don’t even have time to put on an album and just listen anymore. I’m glad I saw these George Winston albums on KZbin and am able to enjoy his music.

I have so many beautiful memories of sitting in my parlor floor brownstone apartment in Brooklyn, the snow falling and cabernet poured on a Sunday night, my love and I. This was our music and our time. All memories now, my husband passed in 2011, so young. Like many others, I have not played George Winston, until today. yes, it brings back some great memories...I remember hearing this when my beautiful and adoring wife would come into the room- topless and dancing in a very seductive way until we embraced, we'd open up a good bottle of merlot, and we would entertain ourselves as the misty night continued and the harvest moon gently peaked thru the dark, flowing clouds. We both knew that soon we would be together as one, hearing each others heart gently beating......and then I wake up and remember I need to put the steaks on the grill as the kids are getting hungry.

My 4th grade literature teacher loved George Winston and his music dearly. She would always put on his music as we were working on assignments, and this album, along with Forest and his Christmas album, were the ones that stuck with me throughout the years, and every so often, I'd come back and revisit his music. I should have come back much more than I did, and I regret not further supporting him while I could. He was one of the most underrated artists of his time, I'd say. Every piece of his is beautiful and emotionally provoking in some way or another. Rest in peace, George Winston. Thank you for everything.

The Fall is also my favorite time of year! I love the color changes, the new crispness in the air after the heat of summer, the deer coming down out of the hills in the early morning or late evening, now that it isn't so warm, the changing position of the sun out my window, all just before the blanket of snow comes to make everything quiet and clean again! I love spring with all its new life, but for some reason, Autumn remains my favorite, no matter what part of the country i am living in when it happens! I lived by the ocean for years, but I live in the mountains now, where the colors are so much more apparent, and I love it!

In the mid 80s, fresh out of college, I was a Midwestern kid who moved out to Los Angeles for a job. I was dating a mesmerizingly beautiful Southern California girl. It was an exciting time of discovery for me: first job, first apartment, first time out on my own. Many nights, she and I would lay tangled up in bed naked, still glistening and breathless from intimacy. The windows would be open with the warm breeze rustling the curtains while this music played on KTWV. We were young and at the top of our game. Neither of us had bellies or wrinkles or life's troubles weighing down on us. Our lives were spread out ahead of us like presents under the tree on Christmas morning. No one could have convinced us that we wouldn't be young forever. That was 36 years ago. I'm now over 60. I have a wife of almost 30 years, and she is an amazing mom and grandma, and I love her dearly. I have long since lost track of my Southern California girl. In my memory, I can still see her eyes locked on mine in the heat of passion or out on the beach as the sun set. She was beautiful, we were young, wild and free, and life was simple. Life has been great and I wouldn't change a thing. But... given the chance, I would go back, even just for one night, to that cramped apartment in LA. naked and entwined with that girl who I don't even know anymore. This music would be playing, the window open, and the curtains moving gently in the warm breeze of my youth all those many years ago.

I amso grateful to have George in my life through his music, it has soothed me and also lights me into a dance. George, thank you for all you have left us, forever. Margaret

Loved his perfect concert in Richmond, VA. He flawlessly played every piece. We all held our breath to insure not missing one of his perfect notes. He is the genius of two centuries. So blessed to have been so fortunate to have seen him in concert. Mr. Blue jeans, flannel shirt and wearing socks! The master of my lifetime!

I was searching through the internet and my grandma says “Can you play music on that thing?(referring to my phone)” I say “Whatcha wanna hear?” She’s says “ Play... Autumn By George Winston” *plays it* “This takes me back to that time” she says quietly.....The cutest thing 💝

It's been over 36 years since I first Met, this beautiful album for the first time! I know, because my 36-year-old daughter was not born yet! Shortly after buying "Autumn", I was privileged to see him in concert at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The building itself is just beautiful, built in 1932 and exquisitely designed. A perfect backdrop for this musical treasure...He walked out in bare feet, and I thought, "what a cool guy!" Incredibly talented...I recently moved and decided to upload some good listening music onto my computer for myself and he immediately came to mind! I also play it for my cat and dog, when I'm going out throughout the day to run errands, so they will stay calm and peaceful, which is how it always affects me! What a Marvel...to have a talent that transcends the souls of so many people, who have memories stored so deeply within them, that it has the power to take us back to the best times and perhaps, times when it served to soothe our souls and provided healing and hope! It's done both for me! I really enjoyed everyone's responses! God Bless George Winston. So grateful!

George Winston evokes nostalgia of the days of my youth, listening to "new age" music in high school when everyone listened to british bubble gum pop. I was more introspective about life back then, every day lasted. Now 25 years later life goes by so fast without the pause to appreciate it...

I first heard this in 83', it was beautiful then as it is today. It brings peace and contentment to a life that has been plagued by self will. It opens up my mind to all the possibilities that life holds, not wishing to waste another minute. This is a great stress reducer.

I have been a fan since the 1970's. I got to hear him again on Sept 12, 2018, in Eugene, OR. What a treat. I was teary-eyed more than once, during his performance. I hope he lives many more years, and keeps delighting us!

What a coincidence. My mother found me playing by ear when I was 12 too. She had to take me to the doctor for stitches. Seriously, el., I hope that your unique talent has led you to wonderful places. We were too poor in the 50's for a piano, so it's a joy when I hear of a person like you. El

So she never heard you practice it? Never heard your practice any part of the "entire album" until you had it perfect such that she thought it was Winston she was hearing, having heard him "30 million times," though it was YOU? She never heard you getting better and better, closer and closer, such that she had to pause and ask if it was live or memorex? Hmmmmm......... But please DO post a video of you playing it! Would love to hear you.

Been listening to this for almost 36 years, though a lifetime of different memories, different loves, different contexts. It is the sun coming up over the pine trees in winter; it is Autumn, like the title, when the trees turned that lined the highway driving to the one I loved and it is her touch and her voice and her kiss.

I got this album in 1982. It rocked my adolescent world. I would put the record on, sit in my room, and do homework. It soon became my "go to" album for falling asleep. Longing/Love will always hold a special place in my heart - reminds me of my first crush. In 1986 or 1987 Alex Kerr and I went to see him at the Kennedy Center in DC. He wore his trademark flannel shirt and socks. When the lights went up for intermission at least half the audience was asleep. It was really bizarre thing see a sea of adults sleeping in the majestic Kennedy Center. I guess they had the same Pavlovian reaction to George "bedtime" Winston as me. One of the great ones.
