I think that's only part of it. The actress that played Maggie was supposed to be there through the season but decided to do something else so they had to redo the whole second half of the season around that. Considering they had to change things in a crunch it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have gone. The final battle and the dream episodes were really great though.

My favourite episode of season 4 is one I never see mentioned listed as a favourite and that’s The Yoko Factor. The whole season has this huge build up of the characters growing apart, Giles not knowing what he’s doing with life… and we finally get this huge blow up that, whilst yes is due to spikes meddling, but it is a long time coming and much needed. That final scene of them all fighting felt cathartic and necessary. Also Pangs is my other favourite cause the humour we get from spike in that episode is top tier.

@@Superplin most of the Buffy fandom is a bit dumb, lol. Critics and more analytical people (like Passion of the Nerd) on the other hand overall rank season 6 very highly or at the top.

I was 14 when this season came out. Series 4 isn't my favorite but has 2 of some of the best episodes ever. Hush and Restless. For me Tara is the story arc highlight. That one introduction elevated the season for me.

Ok be honest, how many of you screamed from excitement when this started? 🥳 You guys are what content creating, creations, and my preferences of KZbin today. Very insightful review, as I too didn't know what to expect going into Buffy. Watching you guys react to it, it was only then that I realized the show presented a new, fresh, and modern take on common problems within society.

Whedon once commented that Willow is bi but that making her bi at the time was next to impossible… Four is fine. Judging seasons of Buffy in normative terms, apart from it being inherently subjective or intersubjective, is judging based on the thinnest of hairs…Some of the, in my opinion, best episodes and scenes ever in Buffy. Fear Itself, Something Blue, Hush, the two Faith eps, New Moon Rising, Restless, Spike unable to do it, crushing the Fear Itself demon, all of Hush... Season four is fundamentally about the difference in knowledges, the Scoobies knowledge vs the Initiative’s scientific-mechaniical-manichean knowledge. Where the Wild Things explores a variant of the Scoobies type of knowledge, religious “knowledge” , very nicely. The Initiative is the big bad, Maggie is a rep of the Initiative as is Adam. That is, of course, emphasised by the end scene in the penultimate episode where the bureaucrats shut it down and salt the earth... Yes Buffy is a bildingsroman, about growing up. All the Scoobs are experiencing growing pains in four… The actor who plays Joyce was living in Italy in season four. There is a great story Sutherland tells about what Joss told Joyce about Joyce’s arc in five… The Greek is from Sappho…s The actor who played Jenny is now doing Buffy talks particularly with Clare Kramer and seems to have grown more comfortable with here past...

Unrelated to Buffy but I might as well put it here ...I watch a book tube channel Criminoly (excellent ) he was asked about people he thought he looked like and I mentioned a certain Buffy reactor who in my eyes looked like a younger doppelganger . He had a look at your (LD) channel and thought I had a point ..I mean im rubbish with faces but literally mirror twins😅

I know a lot of people say season 3 and 5 are "the best seasons" but I disagree. Yes 5 is one of the best, but I didnt think 3 was that great. My ranking from Favorite to least enjoyable would go: 6(absolute favorite season), 5, 7, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Season 6 is the best, but season 7 is getting better and better for me on rewatch. The first two seasons also at the bottom for me. Season 2 is a tad overrated for me. Nearly a quarter of season 2 is actually kinda skippable for me (even if I never skip episodes on rewatch).

It's nice to see there are others who don't think seasons 7 and 4 are "the worst ever!!" I don't really care for season 2 as the first half feels like a season 1 rehash with monster of the week episodes(and that fish episode just before the finale).

@@brianr.3085 season 2 IS great, but as I said: almost a quarter of it feels indeed like leftovers from season 1, which is a problem that season 4 and 7 don't have, and that's what makes them better seasons than 2. Buffy didn't perfect the monster-of-the-week episode until season 3. I can watch "Beer Bad" anytime (egregiously underrated), but I don't think I can find much of anything worth watching about "Bad Eggs" or "Go Fish".

For me 5, 7, 3, 2, 6, 1, 4 (4 is the only one where I don't care about the season story arc so it's a slog, despite a few excellent standalone episodes).

6, 3, 5, 7, 4, 2, 1 Love all of the show, my favorite of all time. However, some of those monster-of-the-week episodes in seasons 1 and 2 are rather rough watches. I can watch all of seasons 3 to 7 without thinking twice, though.
