Yet another great review! I've been rolling with the GR1 for 4 years now and like that I can add a water bottle holder to the molle on the side so it doesn't take up room inside the pack.

I researched both of these bags when picking my own backpack. I ended up with the Brown Buffalo 26L Conceal Pack though. It has all the great construction of the GoRuck with some excellent organization. That being said I did pick up a Topo Core backpack on sale to try out since I do miss having a water bottle pocket sometimes.

@@intervention8816 I believe it’s called gunmetal. It’s a kind of dark gray with black molle. Used it almost every day for two years and not a scratch on it. Just recently caught a Kaidan bullet and switched to that for every day use.

The recycled firefighter bag lost me with the depth of the pockets inside the front zipper area. If those pockets were shallower, I would be all about it and then there’s nothing on the side of the bag for Molley. I actually want to tie a temporary cord from Molley to Molley across the strap side of the bag to put over the handles on my roller suitcase for going through airports so I don’t have to carry the backpack on my back at all times. I’ll handle pass-through would be incredible. The cost of the GR lost me.. even though it’s a nice bag. Although it does have the Molley on the sides that I could put a temporary pass through for My Suitcase Carrie. Just a piece of Paracord tied across would hold the bag where I need it in the airport. A few slight changes in either of these bags would be the perfect bag for me, but the perfect bag will never exist! It would be nice to have boaf of these bags.

I feel like the vertical front pocket is a great feature for an edc pack. GoRuck probably doesn't include it for Rucking reasons, but in my opinion this is just a better, more fun design.

I was able to get a weeks work of clothes and other travel essentials in the Recycled Firefighter with no problem. Though I did feel the weight. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much this bag can handle for just 18L. I am looking for a new one though with better back support and shoulder harness, but I’ll still find use for my RFF. If the main compartment is stuffed you will need a little patients to grab anything from the front access pocket.

My EDC pack has been a Crater Snowboard backpack (USA made by Gregory) since around 1996. After 24 years it's getting a little worn, but I got it on closeout from the Campmor catalog for under $25 so I'm pretty happy with it so far. I have both of these bags, and I agree on about everything that you said. The one thing I would like to mention is the front pocket on the GoRuck is not very useful when you have the bag packed. It is so tight you can hardly get anything in it making it almost useless. If I was going to war or doing one of the GoRuck challenges I would for sure use the GR one, but for an EDC the recycled fire fighter is more than enough and I think for 99.9% of us it will do the job and you should save the money. I wish they copied the RFF slash pocket style instead of goruck's tight pocket though, plus RFF is so lightweight compared to Goruck/CT, RFF's design is also sleeker and cleaner, but of course CT also has some good improvements like water pockets inside and high vis interior.

My EDC? A 20 year old EastPack.... But maybe soon I will get a Goruck? maybe not... I like the clamshell design and simplicity. Even with just two pockets I lose stuff in my EastPack. I put it in there and then forget. I find it a year later. What's the solution? EDC! Just have EVERYTHING I might want in one pack. So I should get a BIG 26L Goruck. I will not forget where the $300 went! I would rather go to a store and pick the pack up and look at it... I do not like this online shopping AT ALL! IMHO

Have both bags. Massive fan of both. Both amazing Made In USA quality. The front pocket on the Recycked Firefighter is awesome. The front pocket on the GR1 is the only thing I don’t like about the GR1. The GR1 is built like a tank and is damn near indestructible. People complaining about the price need to actually handle their Made In USA products first. The straps on the Goruck bags take a while to “break in”, but once broken in they are soooooo comfy! The Recycled Firefighter is lighter. When opened in the clamshell configuration, the sides of the Recycled Firefighter sometimes flop down, whereas the GR1 sides stay up, so nothing falls out. The laptop compartment in the Recycled Firefighter is good, but the GR1 is better. With a 13” MacBook in the Recycled Firefighter laptop compartment you notice the stiffness/hardness of the laptop on your back, with the GR1 which has more padding on the laptop compartment you don’t really notice it. Love the high vis of the Recycled Firefighter. If you get the Velcro insert for the Recycled Firefighter and some of the mesh velcro pockets they make, it makes an awesome bag for weekend trips or even longer minimalist trips. Another annoying thing is with the Gar1, attaching the Goruck pouches makes the elasticised internal sleeve pretty useless, unless you use a small one like the Echo pouch. Both bags are awesome. Jake from Recycled Firefighter is an awesome guy and their customer service in my opinion has been great. Goruck’s general customer service not as good, but have heard their Scars Lifetime Warranty is apparently amazing. I’ve had my GR1 for five years and it’s like new. Final tip, Goruck has sales every now and then (few times a year), so good to pick up stuff then. Just discovered your channel. Great video mate!

Fair comparison. I have both. 24HR Battalion is a very good value for a great bag. It carries bigger than the 18L it’s listed at. More like 22- 25L. The GoRuck is more of a travel bag for me for trips longer than 3 days. Takes a little longer to break in as noted by George.

I've got 2 different bags from Recycled firefighter and like 4 or 5 wallets I really like his products they are all made by hand in the USA so that's a huge plus also I think it's a great medium between high end quality materials and still being affordable I got a duffle barrel bag 20 liters with a wallet and some patches for 51 bucks on a special and I got one of the 159 bags for 140 with a discount and broke down into 4 interest free payments of 34 bucks so that's pretty sweet, there is always gonna be products that are bigger and better but you will definitely pay for it , I really like what I get from recycled firefighter only downside is the warranty like you said but if anything is wrong with the bag right out the box you can definitely get it replaced but once you have it and use it for 30 days it's on you then .... nice review tho 👍👍👍

As a former Army Special Operations Soldier, I can attest to Go Ruck's capability and robust durability...Mike the founder of Go Ruck is a prior SF Operator and their gear is purpose driven for a more active lifestyle as it was designed for Special Forces units so it's geared for rucking, hiking, climbing, but has the added benefit to be used as an "overbuilt" EDC bag...Recycled Firefighter on the other hand is more of a start up company and the founder Jake designs this gear in his garage, much of which comes from recycled firefighter gear from his connections from his time as a firefighter...so really 2 different spectrums, both great pieces of kit but definitely purpose driven and of course we all know that that USA construction is going to ante that price up...awesome content, just wanted to provide context for people who may not know.

Hey George - well done!! I’m going to have to get that tech organizer you showed! I’m still rocking the Recycled Fire Fighter 24hr- the front pocket organization, price and interior the Velcro panel (an extra purchase) is what cinched it for me. That being said I had a chance to find out how the no warranty thing works out. When I bought it I was all caught up in the small shop made in America thing and incorrectly assumed it had a warranty. So here’s what happened: used the pack for less than a month and one of the straps started ripping out from the top of the pack under normal edc use that a Jansport could handle. I contacted RFF they asked for a picture which I provided and the order number from my purchase - which I was unable to locate. They were able to research it then they asked that I send in for them to review which I did on my own dime/time. RE the customer service experience it was all via email and I could tell I was dealing with two different persons who didn’t seem to know what the other was doing. One was snarky but I put up with it hoping to get the pack repaired or replacement - in the end they made good sending me a new pack it just showed up. But it wasn’t an optimal experience. $160 ish is enough money that there should be a no hassle return/ repair policy or they should clearly communicate on their site RFF offers no formal warranty. But I have several other of their products I”d purchased prior to this pack that I like and are well built. I just don’t know if I’ll spend any more money their in the future.

Thanks for watching and your experience San.. I always hesitate purchasing from companies with wacky return policies.. It's almost like they are playing hot potato with their own $hit. See ya

I just don’t get it with these bags and their prices. No water bottle pocket or side pockets?!?!?! They look like back packs that you would get at the army surplus store. I also love the high vis interior in bags and packs which is about the only thing I even liked about these packs. For me, there are a lot of others packs out there that are better and their prices make sense. The Northface, Osprey, Gregory, Kelty and even Samsonite make some great packs with nice warrantees. I am currently carrying the Osprey Tropos for business travel and weekend hiking or camping in the summer. I carry a samsonite back pack for everyday business although I am looking to get and try the Northface Recon soon for everyday business commute. I have a Kelty, Osprey and Gregory packs for hiking and backpacking in the back country.

George - I’d take a north face recon or surge for way less than that 300 dollar bag for sure. North face is the gold standard for backpacks with life time warranty.

Jim Allocco I use to love Nf backpacks. Until I discovered Osprey. About the same price and also comes with lifetime warranty. I prefer the shoulder pads and weight of osprey backpacks.
