First heard this song in late 1987 while visiting my future wife. We were only friends at the time but I decided during that visit that I would one day marry her. Took 6 years to make it happen, but it did. Had my mind set on her the whole time. this song became "our" song while dating. @anjsmith53872 жыл бұрын
You are correct
@joshuainman91802 жыл бұрын
It’s a toss up between Paul and George. A lot of people think Wings was not so good, but they were pretty creative and a natural extension for Paul’s creativity. Paul seemed to get stuck in his era by the 80s right when George was making his own way. George seemed to be much more informed on current music in the 80s as he helped artists like George Michael, Tom Petty, and others lyrically before making his own album.
@JoaquinLucero224202 жыл бұрын
@@joshuainman9180 so George had the better career? Also did Paul make any good songs with wings because I would think that Paul was the most talented of the four and he should have been the one who made all the hits, Other than band on the run
@joshuainman91802 жыл бұрын
@@JoaquinLucero22420 I think they both peaked at different points. Wings had 5 commercially successful songs in the US. “With a little luck,” 1978, “Silly Love Songs,” 1976, “Jet,”( my personal favorite of Wings) 1973, and “Band on the Run,” 1973, and we all know “Live and Let Die,” even though it didn’t technically chart. 6 of their 8 albums were #1 on the US Charts. They did have the advantage of being a bit of a super band. Their staying power hasn’t been great as there were just too many similar bands in the 70s. This is where I believe Harrison really stood out in the 80s, there was simply no one making music like his that would have been charting at the time. Yes it’s one big album, but artistically the technicality and musicality of this album really, really stands out and to blues and 80s fans it is a top album of the era. So to me the quantity of Wings hits vs the musicality and staying power of Cloud Nine make Paul and George’s success different but I couldn’t choose one over the other as better.

Jeff Lynne was so angry and disgusted that Xanadu was such a box office flop he swore that he would never score another movie again. However, he allowed the music of E.L.O. to be used in The Virgin Suicides, and Boogie Nights. Alot of folks say that E.L.O. was influenced by The Moody Blues.

I don't think he knows, but everyone has something in the past (usually a lot of things big or small) to make peace with. Pretty sure he's just saying that as another reason he looks happy since forgiving yourself is very essential to being happy, or you'll be dwelling in the past.

I'd only seen the other version of this video before. While watching this, I realized the guy trying to win the ballerina for the girl played Westley in "Angel" and "Buffy The Vampire Slayer, " and also Sandy Rivers on "How I Met Your Mother." 😂

Not heard this in a while and was one of my favourites growing up as my dad played it often. Fast forward 20 years and this belter comes on in a nightclub. Everyone dancing on tables, everyone happy. Just what George would have wanted. The club also had a huge picture of the fab four on the wall and I just had to think, what an amazing legacy you guys have created.

This song came out the fall of my senior year of HS in 1987. Wasn't all that into the song then as I was big into Metal of the era, but this song aged well and has a Beatles vib to it. George was part of the best band in the history of pop and rock music.

As a young kid in the late 80's I remember this being a popular music video at the time and I have to credit it as my first exposure to anything ' Beatles" related even though they'd broken up years prior to this song.. Ironically, it would be right around the time of George's death while I was in high school when I finally listened to the entire Sgt Peppers, Abbey Road and White albums which is when my true admiration for the Beatles began

Yes, imagine what have happened if McCartney, Lennon and Martin were more supportive of Harrison's songwriting: on top of Lennon-McCartney, we could have had the results of McCartney-Lennon-Harrison in its various combinations.

I remember riding in the back of a mustang convertible in 1988, over The Nevada/California border with my dad at the wheel. This song was playing, and it was hot. We had the top down, and I remember the wind, the smell of the Sierras. Looking back it’s like something out of a story book or something. Unexpected nostalgia trip, but a good one. RIP, dad. And RIP George.

One of the most beautiful and powerful songs by George. I played this song for my mother one day before she passed away at the hospital. Even though she could not understand the lyrics, I let her know I had my mind set on her to help her cope with her battle with cancer. God heard my prayers and she died peacefully and painlessly at about noon today, Monday April 29th ~ 2019. Her loving memories live inside of me because she was part of me. Hasta pronto mama'. Te vere' en la resurreccion. Descansa Mercedita.

When I lost my mom I was devistated, she was my pillar of strength .She asked me 2 get a pina colotta and a burger. When I returned she passed to a higher plane.On the way home this tune came on in my car.I cried all the way home.I believe that she sent me away so I wouldn't be there when she left us .Love you Mom 4 every.
