I love shooting with my RX1 mkii - Battery life is flippin' awful, especially in colder temps. A saving grace is that you can run the RX1 mkii on buss power. I've been shooting tethered to an Anker battery pack - works quite well even if a tad cumbersome. I've been on photo-walks for some hours in the cold and I didn't have to concern myself with swapping batteries.

Surely just carrying more batteries is easier? 😂
@mikafoxx271714 күн бұрын
My opinion? Just get a cheaper used camera and a good small lens.. a 6d and 40mm 2.8 is a great combo for very little money. Battery lasts for ages and you can wifi transfer photos to a phone. Or if it needs to be mirrorless, like an a7c + 40mm 2.5. pitiful size difference isn't worth it, you still need to consciously bring it and choose to take photos.

Hi George. I feel for ya mate. This week I was on the Millennium Bridge facing St Pauls with the sun behind me waiting for someone to shield their eyes. I thought "this will be a doddle" and I'd pop off for a cuppa in a few minutes...you can guess the rest. The next day I decided to go out for the entire time on shutter priority set at 1/10 and 400 ISO using a D700 a with a nifty fifty. I was laughing to myself, and sometimes out loud, at this perceived folly. However, the day took shape after a short while and I had a wonderful time out and about. Sometimes you just have to say B******ks to it and not give a toss. In this video the guy on the edge of frame in the santa hat and the other people in red and white as well...gorgeous. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

@GeorgeHolden has a regular user, one thing I really liked was that it wasn't the same I bought this off eBay for 200 quid and it's not so bad. I'm not picking on you when I say that. That's just one particular style. But I liked that it was kind of walking to the brain of what you want to cover and why. Could you decribe any shutter lag these 'street' cameras have, because it affects the moment I press the shutter button. An example of this was when I owned the Sony Nex 5N and paired it with an old Canon 35-70mm manual lens and adaptor. I like to shoot people walking so their legs are at the half past eight position and using the Sony I had to press the shutter button when their legs were at the half past six position to get what I wanted. There will be other cases where knowing about a cameras' shutter lag is important to get the decisive moment.
@GeorgeHolden18 күн бұрын
In my experience the RX1 has no shutter lag, of course the autofocus has a lag off it's own but when in manual focus the response is instant

It Is a great camera and I could live with its quirks like the laggy af or the missing feature to set a minimum shutter speed for Auto ISO, but not for the price. For that money I could get a Ricoh GRIIIx or a Fuji X100F, which are the better option to me.

@@GeorgeHolden on my 4 year older Nikon D700 I can tell the camera to keep the shutter to a minimum of say 1/60 and that way it’ll keep the ISO as low as needed to maintain that dynamically. It’s very handy. Other Sony cameras support this but the RX1 never got a firmware update. There’s also features mentioned in the manual missing from the camera.

Sharpness ist always on zero, cause I don't like artifacts and the sharpness of the RX1 is superior on default sharpening for my taste., Note, this are all JPEG changes for nice OOC pictures, they doesn't apply to RAW files. @@baobo67 nah. The sonnar lens in the rx1 series is unique to that camera and very special. I have owned one for 12 years or so and I’ve got away with one or two batteries for long days of shooting with no worries whatsoever. If you’re worried about the lack of viewfinder there’s one you can attach on the hot shoe. I own it and never use it, there’s no point as the screen is decent and doesn’t draw attention. When you have owned it for long enough you can frame up shots in your mind without even looking at the camera display. The only issue is the wonky contrast detection AF.
