Lyrics
I'd say love was a magical thing
I'd say love would keep us from pain
Had I been there
Had I been there
I I would promise you all of my life
Hut to lose you would cut like a knife
So I don't dare
No I don't dare
'Cause I've never come close
In all of these years
You are the only one to stop my rears
And I'm so scared
I'm so scared
Take me back in time
Maybe I can forget
Turn a different corner
And we never would have met
Would you care?
I don't understand it
For you it's a breeze
Little by little
You've brought me to my knees
Don't you care?
No I've never come close
In all of these years
You are the only one to stop my tears
I'm so scared of this love
And if all that there is
Is this fear of being used
I should go back to being lonely and confused
If I could, I would, I swear.

I am a 100% straight dude. And every time, I hear this, well, I cry. I am a country hick, a fireman almost all my life. But this song breaks my heart. Love lost. Love gained. Everything is just so confusing when we search our true feeling. And we realize that we made mistakes that were not part of any of this. Thank God for the people that forgave our mistakes and loved us anyway!

Back in the 80's i was quite the emotional teenager. I cried a lot looking back, heartbroke too many times. As ive got older the tears are less, it takes a lot to make me cry. But even now, listening to george, he somehow manages to make me feel. Life can harden us, but always and forever inside is the child that needs love. We should never forget that. If you read this and lifes been difficult i send to you love and hope. God bless us all ❤

As a 29 year old, I have no words to express how grateful I'am to have discovered this masterpiece. To the people who grew up in the 80s, you guys were lucky. I wish we had music like this now in days. Yes, I know some people will argue, and say we have good music now in days, which may be true a little, but not music that touches your soul. That's a fact no matter how much some will try to deny it.

Totally agree and glad you realise it, I grew up in the 80's and people wrote love songs, soul, disco etc or songs that commented on matters of concern. I would say the rap industry in particular is responsible for 'lowering the tone' with its references to money, ho's and sex, not saying its all gone bad but it doesn't exactly help matters, music should elevate the spirit , bring joy to the soul even if it is a melancholic beauty as in ' A different corner' . RIP George Michael.

I'd be honored if some George Michael fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of PRAYING FOR TIME and MOTHERS PRIDE on my YT channel in tribute to two of George's many great compositions. Eventually our man will get his due for all that he gave to modern music as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. THANK YOU GEORGE. WE MISS YOU.

While I think artists' personal relationship lives are none of my business, as it became common knowledge later that he was gay, I'll add that the way he channeled additional sadness he may have been feeling from societal homophobia into another influence for his artistry was also brilliant. Christmas will mark 5 years since the world lost him. I swear it's like he came straight from Heaven in this video. All dressed in white like that, he looks like an angel, but he's missing one thing: the wings. He has since gained those, but the world has lost a man whose talent, beauty, and heart can never be matched or replaced. I'll freely admit that I have a certain level of guilt for not knowing what an incredible artist, and man, George was in life (I've only really "discovered" his music in these past few weeks); a guilt that makes me wonder if I have the right to call myself a fan of his now that he's gone. Somewhere in Heaven, I'd like to imagine that there's a place where our dearly departed stars can see the tributes that we post on social media and those that we erect at their homes or other places of significance in their lives, so that they may know how much they were loved, something that I feel George never truly knew until the (6) years immediately preceding his death. George, I hope you're resting easy. Your memory and music will surely remain in the hearts of your fans, both lifelong and newborn (like me), for the rest of time. ☺💜💔

That AAAAHHHH at the end. I always loved this song. So tender. Songs today are missing tenderness and vulnerability. George was the BEST and still is.

@@keishiafells2927 yes the kids are very tough in their music. I think unfortunately the sensitive went out at some point. Vulnerable is the word. The way they lash out today shows what is missing.

Indeed ! His songs had an important impact in my life ! My favourite singer ever with an a versatile and Angel voice. A gentle, an humble, an incredible talented artist of our generation. A pity he was in such pain. A genius has gone but his music 🎶 will remain forever in our hearts.

I love all the music and lyrics of this song. It is such a heavenly and heartfelt emotional song, that marks my youth, and every emotional insecurity of my teens, as well as all the girls I dreamed of marrying back in the day. It always takes my back to an amazing time when everything seemed so magnified and dramatic. Thank you George and Wham, for this bookmarker of music in my life.

We all know how gorgeous and sexy he was but I know that's the last thing George would want us to think of when we think of him. I think because he was so good looking it got in the way of ppl recognizing his talent. When we think of 80s pop stars we think of MJ, Prince etc but George is right up there & you could even make case at surpassing those 2 performers. No wonder in the early 90s he went incognito on his videos & albums. I lived through it. Ppl were OBSESSED with his good looks back then and he was totally creeped out by it. He didn't want to be known for his looks whatsoever. There wasn't a vain bone in his body.
