Georges Hobeika (born 8 February 1962, in Baskinta) is a Lebanese fashion designer of haute couture and ready-to-wear clothing. Hobeika officially opened his atelier in Beirut, Lebanon in 1995, and has been presenting his collections in Paris, during the city’s official fashion weeks, for over a decade. Hobeika is officially recognized by the "Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture", as a guest member.[1]
Today, Hobeika owns and manages his fashion house which includes four lines: Georges Hobeika Couture - Georges Hobeika Bridal - Georges Hobeika Signature - GH by Georges Hobeika. Georges Hobeika operates the fashion label from his showroom on the rue Royale in Paris and from his atelier headquarters in Beirut.

The swan dress is one of the most beautiful works of art I’ve seen in the fashion world. To me, it’s a shame that few people will get to enjoy it if it ends up in a private collection somewhere, but there’s always a chance that some socialite will acquire it and then donate to a museum as an act of philanthropy.

I do hand embroidery as a hobby and the latest piece I did (around 10cm x 10cm) must have around 40-60hs of work, maybe more, so I highly doubt they get a good pay per hour, but one can only hope I guess

The beading is exquisite 🥰 I am a garment designer and the hand work on all the pieces are what truly makes it couture…….. The gown is gorgeous and just watching it being made. So many hours that it takes……many do not understand the time it takes to design…..create the pattern……cut…..sew and produce! Often I am asked: "Why so expensive "?……… This is why!

Having been behind the scenes at couture fashion shows in Paris what surprised me is how even a lot of the clothes that end up on the models bear a very loose resemblence to what the designer actually designed. When the seamstresses are interpreting the designs they often say "that shoulder won't work, this seam would be far too high, the lace on the neckline is too much, this needs a bow on the back, the underskirt isn't flattering" and make serious adjustments. They then show the final result to the designer who almost never questions the alterations to his or her design. What you see on the runway is often 50% the creation of an anonymous workroom and 50% the general silhouette and colour/fabric _suggestion_ of the designer.
