Georges St-Pierre Coaching Juniors MMA Striking

Like most Martial Arts coaches who have been in the game for a long time, one of the most enjoyable and rewarding things I now gain from my role is watching those that I teach develop their own passion for training.
Even more so when it involves the young juniors that I coach, and as it is in this instance, when it involves one of my own children as well.
Here, my daughter Willow and long time student Joe Foster were asked to demonstrate some drills by the legend that is Georges St-Pierre during his seminar at the For The Love Of MMA event held in Manchester earlier on in the year.
Not only did they do an amazing job demonstrating to a large crowd of watchers, they no doubt gained a huge increase in their confidence as a result of the hugely complimentary words from someone who is undoubtedly one of the best role models in Martial Arts today.
Moments like this are exactly why I coach and an excellent example of why I fell in love with Martial Arts in the first place. Outstanding physical training coupled with time spent in the company of equally outstanding people. What’s not to love!!

Love that he still has that same thrill for fighting as he did when he was a young fighter. Must be a hard adjustment to go from training 6 days a week to beat someone unconscious to now training kids. He looks very happy and healthy😁

The crazy thing is he said in interviews that he didn't really enjoy the actual fights: he enjoyed the marital arts process and the fullest expression of that was competing at the highest level. He said fighting made him nervous and the "fun" he had was mostly all in training.

I've always loved this combo set up by GSP. That initial push on the knee allot of people call a dirty move,but before Jon jones GSP used it as well, it's not a move designed to damage someone's knee, but it stops your opponent from coming foward and followed by the superman punch to inside or outside leg kick is a great technique and combo. GSP has a great fight IQ as well. One of many reasons he retired on top. He is smart. Knew when to walk away. Bj Penn is anouther one of my favorites and you can see the result from him not retiring and staying retired like he should have. I know it was really difficult for Penn because he loves the sport so much and loves to fight. But to hang on as much as he did and to continue to fight when his body couldn't was sad to watch. Chuck Liddell is another great example. Talented fighter,just hung on to long. All have their own spots of legends of the UFC and the sport of MMA .

It's really complicated to throw kicks to punches to kicks, not only the technique but trying to actually land on someone takes a lot of timing, balance & footwork.

Yeah but wrong. You dont jump while punching and you don't counter incoming front kicks like this. She must be trained to be stable while doing all that and those counterkicks must be more straight and direct otherwise she is kissing the ground before she lands a hit.

​​@@NoJusticeNoPeace87Bruh. This is a combo GSP basically made famous hitting it at the highest level. There was no "countering of a front kick" in this video. There was an oblique kick to probe distance, the superman punch to engage from the edge of your range. Then a leg kick to prevent forward movement. And allows you to exit the engagement on an angle out of reach. I don't know if you know who GSP is but if he's teaching it you know its worth trusting. He was a karate practioner who managed to wrestle for like 2-3 years before the Canadian National team started using him as training partner. He's literally a Savant.
