Half a pound (155.5) is only 0.33 percent heavier than 155, within margin of error easily. It’s not like he was 160lbs or 157 he was just 0.5 over I can’t believe that they don’t have a back up scale for things like this because a slight miss calibration shouldn’t strip a champion.

That's true, but that's the risk you take when you walk around 10+ pounds outside your fighting weight. Their is an argument I've heard people mention about walking around weight vs weight class and having a % you can cut. I don't know what the right answer is, but when everyone wants to get the advantage of cutting massive amounts of weight, these things happen.

apparently the scale in the hotel was off and was only re-calibrated the night before the weigh-in. This would align with Do Bronx's coach tweeting the night before that Oliveira was already at 155. Oliveira has never had an issue making weight outside of featherweight. Tbh if this scale discrepancy is true, then I believe he should not have vacated his title. Either way my money is on Gaethje.
