PAA Shave Chaser. An Homage to Skin Bracer.

Mark, Your channel is so cool. You have inspired me to start wet shaving with a safety razor for the first time in my life. I am 59 years old. I just took delivery of a Vikings Blade Emperor Meiji and Seaforth Sea Splice Lime soap,and aftershave. My first shave with my new set up will be tomorrow morning. I’m all set with preshave, alum block, Vikings Blade Dark Raven brush, the whole shabang. I’m going with 30 degrees, and a light touch. I’m going to let the razor do all the work -like a gentleman. Keep your content rollin’.

My dad is 71 and I’m 47 and i remember smelling this every morning before he went to work and to this day I smell it every time I see him. I use it sometimes and my daughters tell me I smell like grandpa. Lol.

Nice shave Mark. I think the peaks needed more water, you're 100% correct CK6 is thirsty soap! I haven't tried Skin Bracer but have seen it locally so I plan on picking it up to try this weekend. Just picked up PAA Doppelgänger Black and waiting for it to arrive, really like Doppelgänger Grey and can't go wrong with CK6.

I love Mennen Skin Bracer! I recently got the PAA Copper Ascension Twist and it's a winner. I back off a quarter turn with a Feather blade and get a great BBS result. Using it without a spacer makes it very mild but very inefficient. The copper plating really makes for a silky smooth feeling. Maybe I'll try the Strangelet in it tomorrow, but I've never gotten a great shave with that blade in other razors I've tried.

Is the copper ascension “soft”? I’ve had some people ask if they should worry about it being dropped. I haven’t tried it but I would imagine however the makeup of the tellurium copper percentages are would kind of determine how robust it would be

@@GregTardif I understand that the tellurium is alloyed with the copper to harden it and make it more easily machinable, comparable to brass. I would think that dropping it and damaging the teeth would be the issue, which could happen with other metals also.

Mark, I was SO excited to see this video. I really like Skin Bracer. I am not a fan of most of the drugstore brands like Aqua Velva or Brut because I, unfortunately, associate those scents with a family member who hurt me deeply some years ago. I discovered Skin Bracer when I got into wet shaving a couple of years ago and it doesn’t have that kind of a scent. It’s close but just different enough that I could enjoy it. So it was a pleasant surprise to see that Doug and Fran have come out with this homage to it. My wife will kill me but I am going to have to pick some of this up. ( Although I have learned that the only shave soap scents she likes are the two I have from PAA, so maybe she’ll be ok with it 😜)

I'm so jealous of this shave....lol. You used all PAA products that Ive been on the fence of buying, especially the razor! And the soap and splash-Ive been waiting forever for an homage to SkinBracer. I love SkinBracer and what I would do is do a 50/50 mix of SkinBracer and Osage Rub. Im curious how the razor js adjustable though. Great Shave Mark!

Mark, if you love Skin Bracer, then this shave soap and splash are for you.:) The Ascension Twist adjustable is quite ingenious. The razor blade acts as a spring keeping pressure on the razor head. this pressure, or tension, allows the razor head gap to be opened simply be twisting the handle. You can open it up a bit more than a full quarter turn without the blade shifting or loosening in the razor head. As PAA explains on the product page"... you make a twist within a given space of tension till it alters the feel and aggressiveness of the blade to a custom position of your liking. That, by definition is an adjustment...thus making it an adjustable, a "Twist Adjustable". Not to be confused with a classic, dial turn, fixed point adjustable razor. This is just another kind of adjustable, not pseudo, not semi, but adjustable by intent in its own design. We really tried to get the most out of the design and geometry." I used my RazoRock SLOC in my last shave. I love DOC’s like that and the Ascension from PAA. I have the 326 L stainless version. Used for the first time a Nivea “ Ultimate hydration” Shave stick. Not sure if you have ever got a chance to use them yet but one of my buddies from one of the groups on Facebook ordered a bunch and was asking people if they wanted to try it so I messaged him and he sent me; and a few other guys some Nivea shave sticks for free. it’s really slick and protective and has a nice fresh scent. He had mentioned that they might be getting discontinued? 🤷🏼‍♂️ but I think that just might be a rumor Double open combs with a nice slick soap is awesome because most of it stays on your face to get that extra glide !!

My first after shave splash was Skin Bracer & Tabac. It's like macho man style menthol scent. PAA have made spot on classic after shave splash scents. This seems to be another homerun scent. My first PAA brush choice was Peregrino over many fence about. And I think this was my best choice PAA brush. Is the open comb ascension twist razor mild & safe? I have some fear to aggressive open comb razors. I enjoyed this new soap shave video!

I would ay mid strong on the scent and soaps are firm but not hard. But, not overly soft. think Cella or Tabac. In that ballpark.

Sounds great! I wonder if naming it "Skin Chaser" would've been too close...like when Barbasol went after PAA for naming their soap "Barbasoul" (and thus, PAA changed the name to "Cease and Desist" (CaD)...at least according to my understanding of the backstory. Also, thank you for clearly stating that PAA provided the soap and aftershave. I know you love PAA, as do I, but it's still important to disclose for viewers' awareness.

Well...to be honest _ Skin Chaser_ never even was on the drawing board brother! I thought Shave Chaser was perfect being that Skin Bracer was the original thing you slapped on after a classic shave. Not having a matching soap, it *_WAS_* the Shave Chaser, no? Now Skin Chaser has more of a paranormal vibe to it that might work better around the fall season! Lol, maybe I should have waited till October and released it as "Skin Walker"! Shave On!!!!

The artwork evokes all the 1950s sci-fi/fantasy flicks I grew up with as a kid (Who doesn't love Ray Harryhausen?) And we all know this is the season for that kind of movie being released in May and into the summer.

Are you sponsored by PAA or getting the product for free (assuming that's a yes)? If so, you should at least tell the viewers they are viewing an ad and not a true review. I own a number of PAA products including two scuttles (the Dreamscape scuttle is the best scuttle for the money, by far), the Original DOC razor, two cubes (in tubes), and multiple (5+) CK6 soaps with paired aftershaves. I also appreciate PAA's products. But when you are looking off camera to read what appears to be a script, the video does not seem as genuine as it could. Appreciate your content. Just my two cents.
