Georgia on My Mind (Hoagy Carmichael / Stuart Gorrell, piano arrangement by Alec Katz)
Georgia on My Mind was written in 1930 by Hoagy Carmichael (music) and Stuart Gorrell (lyrics) and has been most often associated with Ray Charles who made it so popular. Ray Charles recorded it for his 1960 album "The Genius Hits the Road".
I wrote an easy jazz piano arrangement for one of my students and it came out nicely. But then I could not hold myself from making another, more interesting and a little more advanced piano-level version which is what I play here.
