I appreciated that BA left that last snippet in with them talking about gentrification and change. It's important when YT channels and magazines go to local spots like this that the balance out that exposure and trendiness with an understanding of how that affects local people and demographics in the long term.
@silvermediastudio6 жыл бұрын
It was gentrification that brought traditional bbq back to the forefront of American cuisine. While B's Crackin' is cool.... traditional BBQ got a revival in the USA about 15-20 years ago between Oklahoma Joe's and several others around the nation that got national recognition, mostly through the internet, but also with a surge in interest/support (ie sponsorship money) in competition bbq.
@THEMATTHIAS2256 жыл бұрын
800lb Gorilla and if that gentrification was allowed to run away without guys like Bryan it’d be lost as well. I’m not asserting that every form of gentrification isn’t capable of positive outcomes, but the only way to harness those benefits is to be critical. Mike talks about that a lot with the way he uses hip hop, merchandizing, and his business to improve his cultures and communities while getting his money. Like my original comment said, it’s cool for stuff like this to get white exposure, so long as there’s an avenue of education and preservation on behalf of those putting in the work.
@silvermediastudio6 жыл бұрын
So, basically you're a bigot, with little knowledge of history. Got it.
@trenvert1236 жыл бұрын
+800lb Gorilla I don't know if your "he's a bigot comment" was in reply to a comment that was deleted, but nothing in the comments I've read show OP as a bigot. He's saying almost exactly what the guy in the video is saying. I think you could just be responding emotionally without thinking about the truth in what is being said. Also, your claim on BBQ getting a revival around 15-20 years due to gentrification seems faulty. BBQ has always been ubiquitous, it just hadn't reached your own community yet.

I live in Georgia, and the best barbeque I've ever had here is from Das BBQ. Which is in Atlanta as well.

I agree Atlanta knows nothing about BBQ. Before B's took over this location, it was another BBQ restaurant. The previous owner served the worst BBQ ever. Scared me to the point when I saw a new owner took over, I was reluctant to try them. However, the area does have some jewels to eat. Acapulco Tacqueria is a good spot to eat on Bolton. After seeing this video, I will try their BBQ. Congrats and much succes to them
