2 ай бұрын

A couple months ago, University of Georgia sorority sisters Clarke, Molly, Eleanor, Jane and Kaitlyn became real-life heroes when they saved a family stuck inside a car that drove off-road and began sinking in a creek. The sisters share the terrifying details of how they got the family out of the car, and performed CPR on a little boy who came out of the water unconscious. Cori and her youngest son James share how they ended up in the creek, and thank the sisters for saving their lives. Watch till the end for a special surprise vacation for Cori and her sons, and the sorority sisters!

The moral of the story is that a craving for cheese biscuits is always a good idea.

Now I’m craving them! Too bad I’m on the West Coast right now, but I’m sure I can find a recipe online.

It amazes me how some people, with the right skills, are at the right place at the right time. I hope the oldest son will get the help he needs to deal with his trauma. Sometimes we get caught up in all of the praise of the saving and forget about those who are having trouble dealing with it.

I was in a car accident that left me severely injured. A nurse and a medical student were the ones who stayed with me until the ambulance came. They told me what to do. Before help had came I had said, "God I don't want to die."

Awesome job. Terrifying, but awesome. I don't know that I would send them to a water themed resort after that experience, but I hope they have a great time and maybe learn to swim and perform CPR so it's not a phobia for life.

I thought that as well. Please get your kids In the water early (not like this event), so they learn swimming basics . Even just learning to float on your back helps.Im sure the resort has lifeguards though and they have to be trained in water rescue CPR, which is different than dry land CPR.

Mamas not doing so good. Therapy really helped me when I was in a horrible accident when my kids were littles. PTSD from an event like this when your children are involved is a very big thing.

Great story. I don’t usually like to tell people what they “should” do, but I do think that everybody who can should learn CPR. You might be in a situation like this where you could save someone’s life. I remember we all learned it in middle school, along with the Heimlich Maneuver. I never was in a situation where I had to use it, but I was always glad I knew it just in case. Do they still teach those methods in school?

Many years ago, while traveling through TN, on our way to KY, we took a different route than normal. We pulled to the intersection of Hwy 52 and 31W. We were in the right lane waiting for the light to turn, and since it is legal to make a right turn on red, I looked to my left to check oncoming traffic. There was none. BUT, as we were making the right turn, I saw flames under the car sitting at the light. We pulled over, and while I ran screaming for the mother to get her kids out of the car, the other person called 911. Oddly, there were zero cars on that road, until I started running. Suddenly, 2 tractor trailers pulled up, one with a fire extinguisher, and about 6 other cars appeared. When the fire was out, the men pushed the car to a lot across the street, then everyone disappeared. There wasn't another car for the next hour. While this was happening a Sumner County sheriff's car drove by - and never stopped. No emergency vehicles appeared from the 911 call. We stayed at the scene for over an hour waiting with the young mother and 2 kids while someone came to get her. As we headed home, that very sheriff's car was parked less than 1/2 mile away - at a speed trap. The next day I called the county office and complained, asking why emergency vehicles never appeared. Their reasoning was that it was a city of Gallatin issue, and I told them it didn't matter whether it was city or county, there could have been 3 people killed if that car had exploded and 8-10 people hadn't appeared to help. They stated they were in the process of changing their 911 system, and I told them that was unconscionable - you don't suspend 911 service - you disable the first system when the second one is operational. They told me to talk to the City. The city told me they had no idea where that intersection was. I told them they were lying because 31W is a main artery from Louisville KY to Nashville TN and it's been in the same place for 200 years (it was a stagecoach route). 31W runs through the center of Gallatin. Their response was that the mother and children were OK, therefore it was not their concern. I swore I would never move to Sumner County, TN.

Wait, aren’t there gators in Georgia? Sorry, delayed reaction. I’m imagining a worse case scenario where someone jumps in to help but is devoured by a gator. Yikes! Glad that didn’t happen. I’m not from the south so I have no idea where the gators live.
