I personally would change the kitchen door to open inwards into the kitchen, especially if it stays open most of the time.That will free the entrance a lot, but you will still have the option to close it. It will work, because when it is open (most of the time as you said) it will open towards the built-in fridge!

There are under bed plastic or wood storage units so since you like higher bed, get bed risers, buy under bed storage for linens, towels, bedding, seasonal clothes etc....add bed ruffle and all is tidy and ready in each bedroom. Absolutely beautiful! For adding storage to the kitchen I would recommend doing more furniture pieces rather than built ins. Modern built ins will look less quality than the old wooden kitchen cabinets, and built ins in general modernize the space. Historically built ins are not really used, it’s a lot more dressers and shelves and racks.
@bs4e3 жыл бұрын

What a truly beautiful home! Little idea for the living room just now would be to move the smaller sofa and the armchair to a different part of the house, move the remaining sofa so it sits more central on the wall, looking out of your beautiful window. Get a couple of ercol wooden type chairs, perhaps a rocking one and adorn with pretty cushions and throws for comfort, add a nice big rug too. My advice, don’t follow trends , let the building guide and tell you what is needed/ not needed. It’s a beautiful home as it is, that’s why you bought it . Have fun in your new home, best wishes!

I would probably pick a color that feels a bit more country cottage and traditional for the kitchen cabinets, like a cottage blue or a dusty blue. It would go nicely with the beautiful wood countertop as well, and wouldn’t be dark so you still get a lot of natural light reflection. And perhaps change the light fixtures over the island. Some touches feel like 1950s additions to a beautiful cottage home. I like the idea of peeling back the layers a bit, and restoring the original feel and vibe. Beautiful home!

I think the hallway and kitchen would look gorgeous with terracotta tiles on the floor. I also think it’s always an option it stitch the dining room and the living room as the living room is so long. Lovely home and it seems to suit you both perfectly! And the animals! I think the smaller dresser from the kitchen (that you wanted to move) would be great in the bedroom with the bathroom. The hooks for the coats can be moved under the stairs. I was also thinking in the kitchen you could make a slide in door in the middle of this wall instead of these existing 2 doors so it will save you wall space and you can put more cabinets. Were is your working space now? Why don't you use one of your spare bedrooms for that purpose like your previous house ?

Instead of knocking through to the garage you can do a smaller pantry door to pass through groceries and such... Maybe 4 feet x 4 feet or about that size door/ passage.... And I think any future babies/ kids would have a blast going through 😂

“For now”...my favorite procrastinator phrase. Lovely home. Take care of the mechanics....don’t let those repairs go for long. Amazing how high the ceilings are in the kitchen for a house that age. Subscribe.
