I would keep a shower downstairs Maddie in case anyone in the future has difficulty climbing the stairs, for example elderly Parents, children, pets, or anyone with a disability. People do have ‘accidents’ if you know what I mean.

10/10 would agree and recommend. Having a shower on the main floor will be a blessing many times over while you live in the home. We have main floor laundry (which is rare in our neighborhood) and it has a BIG wash tub but numerous times I've wished it had a shower haha. Kids and pets are so messy!

It is amazing what you have achieved in what is a relatively short time in terms of the 'evolution' of a period home...it is just so beautiful. It's great to see your home and progress. We had fitted wardrobes built and where there was no mould prior to the wardrobes being fitted, mould the appeared because it was the most exposed area of the house and there was then lack of airflow. We cleaned the damp away and lined the walls with polystyrene, which came on a roll and was fitted like wallpaper. is This made a massive difference. You couldn't see the polystyrene and the mould disappeared and the walls became warm to touch where before they were very cold - the house was built of sandstone and breeze block.

Awesome house tour, just what I needed. So you have 3 reception rooms (living room, garage conversion, office), an eat-in kitchen, 3 bathrooms (main, guest, downstairs shower), a utility room, and 4 bedrooms -- wow! I know what the real estate mavens would say -- don't remove the downstairs shower because it adds to resale value. In terms of the bedroom you're renovating, would you consider moving away from the green which -- along with pale salmon and ivory -- is so consistent throughout your home? How about a lime wash in a warm tone, perhaps in the honey or terracotta family?
@janicebrowningaquino792 Жыл бұрын
Oh I think this is a great idea, the lime wash. I didn’t quite catch if you said that bedroom faces the morning sun or not. If it does you most likely are up and about by the time the sun comes through the windows-perhaps- but I think considering moving slightly away from the green in that room would be nice.

So funny, in the third bedroom, I wondered from which direction light comes in. I guess, either in the wall paint or in fabric patterns, I’d consider a very light, buttery yellow or cream for a warm, cheery glow. A soft, Warm green would be a pretty accent with this and would tie in with the other rooms. A pretty blue and pale yellow together is also cheery, if you prefer to use cold colors. Your house is gorgeous! You’ve accomplished so much and have made stunning choices.

Wonderful house glad you didn't strip out all the character. I imagined a claw foot old cast iron tub in the bathroom. Keep a shower downstairs comes in useful with gardening and pets etc. Remember old walls were made to breathe and when you use modern plastic plaster and new doubled glazed windows they don't breathe and hold damp inside the walls. Lime plaster has been used for hundreds of years.
