Hello! Just downloaded the Edisyn patch editor and I'm trying to figure out if I'm using it correctly. I am able to send info and modify parameters in the synth using the editor but when I request a specific patch from the Morpheus it jumps to that preset in the machine but in the editor my values remain unchanged and the instruments and filters, remain empty. Should the Morpheus send back info to the editor and have all the parameters loaded in the editor when jumping to a different preset?
@seanluke3052 Жыл бұрын
@@andreisuciu3717 The Morpheus absolutely should be sending data to Edisyn. Did you set Edisyn's incoming device to your MIDI port as well as the outgoing device? Also double-check everything indicated in the About Tab.

Used to own one of these. Had to sell it to make the rent. Regret that decision to this day. Used to to be the master of this synth. Wrote 200+ plus patches for it, still stored as sysex. Was highly familiar with all the Z plane filters and function generators and love programming this machine. Got some of the most amazing textures I've ever had from any synth ever. And I did it all on that tiny lcd screen, with all the back and shoulder pain that came with it. Lol. This is a true original that really doesn't sound like anything else, Must pick one up when I have a bit of cash to spare. I still miss it.

The Morpheus is amazing. And the Orbit and Planet Phatt both have 17 of the Morpheus Z-plane filters. Dave Rossum often mentions the Morpheus as something he's really proud of that he wishes people would have noticed. He even made a eurorack module based on the Morpheus in 2017.

Oh yes, the EMU Morpheus is a very special synth. I also have the Orbit 9090, which is a lot of fun to program. It's not as complex and feature-rich as the Morpheus, but it's much easier and faster to program from the UI. One day I’ll put my hands on that famous Dave Rossum eurorack module!

Just came across your video as I spent yesterday exploring my Morpheus with Edisyn. Great program indeed. Your Morpheus patches are very cool indeed. Any chance to make them available for the Morpheus? If not, any pointers welcome as I find the number of samples and filter types overwhelming. Or why not make a video of it? :-)

Awesome! Here is the link for my Morpheus patches: drive.google.com/file/d/1enW4efik2UK7aiPj9VnUaX0x56QjfkYw/view?usp=sharing I'll add the link into the video description as well! One advise about filters and samples - the main discovery I made programming the Morpheus - try filter cubes first on the simplest and brightest synth waveforms like Square and Sawtooth - it will teach you a lot about the Morpheus filters and what they can do to the sound. Hope this helps!

Hey maybe you can help me, just got a controller that lets you make templates for hardware. So I’m looking for all the cc numbers in the Morpheus manual but it’s not clear. I read something that says you can assign 1-33 but I couldn’t find CC anywhere and the numbers I tried didn’t match what was in the manual. Do you know what page of the manual has the CCs or do you know them?? Thanks man
@MusicianParadise2 жыл бұрын
CC controller implementation on any of E-Mu products is very limited - so unfortunately you can't do much with CC capable MIDI controller. Most of the E-mu synth can be ruled by sysex messages but it is a very different story all together. This is why I'm so exited about Edisyn software! Of course is not hands on experience as some MIDI controller, but you can dig really deep into the Morpheus using Edisyn.

What about an ultra proteus?
@MusicianParadise Жыл бұрын
Proteus offers a wider variety of waveforms and Z plane filter types. However, most of the waveforms in Proteus are based on acoustic instruments. In combination with many of the Z plane filters, the resulting effect is very subtle and can be hard to hear. With countless combinations of Z plane filters and waveforms, it can be overwhelming to determine which combo works best. On the other hand, Morpheus has a smaller selection of filters and waveforms, but it includes many synth waveforms. It is easier to understand the capabilities of the Z plane filter by applying it to a bright "analog" square wave, for instance. This allows you to hear all the nuances of each filter cube so, programming the patches on the Morpheus is more enjoyable IMHO.
@anonymous_friend Жыл бұрын
@@MusicianParadise Wow, Thanks for that explanation! Is the Morpheus the pinnacle of Emu or the flagship?

@@anonymous_friend I think the Ultra Proteus was the pinnacle! However, as time goes by, the Morpheus gaining some status amongst the synth heads because of the reasons I mentioned earlier.

@@EvanPriceMusicChannel Yes, CTRLR is very cool, but amount of hours needed to port Edisyn to another platform is huge - debugging etc. also, it not only for the E-my Morpheus but for whole family of synthesisers supported is Edisyn!

(1) Edisyn is written in Java and (2) is a sophisticated free-standing app with menus, multiple windows, and a detailed interface. Both of these things make it unable to run as a VST. So it'll stay standlone I'm afraid. [I'm Edisyn's author]
