Edit: if any one cares the reason why I said that MCR would get back together in 2019 is because he said he plans things far in advance and he is a fan of The Smashing Pumpkins who broke up in 2000 and then got back together 6 years later. MCR broke up in 2013 so 6 years later would be 2019 Edit 2: I know this may seem like a lucky guess. But I think it may be possible that the date they broke up had been planned years prior. Many people I've heard have said that Danger Days isn't and wasn't My Chemical Romance but, I don't think you can say that because if you think a band changes its sound and that's no longer them, you are very mistaken. Being a band isn't about picking one thing and sticking to it, it's about making music and being daring and doing different things that are you no matter how different they are from each part of you that you've put out before. Some people have also said that MCR should have broken up right after The Black Parade album and called it over, if they had broken up right after The Black Parade then it wouldn't have seemed incomplete to me; of all albums i believe Conventional Weapons brings the most closure. The lyrics of the songs and the way that they released it 2 by 2 worked really well. The song that i think really did it for me and made me feel complete was The Light Behind Your Eye, it just brings the band to a stop with the particular lyrics in that particular song. Gerard used to tell all of the fans that even when the band ends the music will be there for you and he will be there for you although ti still is important to move on and i think that TLBYE kind of delivered that saying that like if he could hold on he would but its time to go. The thing is that it also could have worked well with Helena(so long and goodnight) or with Famous Last Words it could have worked well with The Kids From Yesterday or maybe even Head First For Halos but the thing is it didn't end that way. MCR finished strong they did well and they still are they're being discovered every day and personally they're my favorite breakup band ever. Anyway those are my thoughts and I think that this is a good debate thing going on in the comments.

Honestly, it would be a sin for Gerard not to pursue musical endeavors after MCR. He's too damn talented. It sucks that they're over and done with, yeah. I spent my teenage years listening to nothing but them. They honestly changed my life. It felt like they were growing up with me. Even when I started paying less and less attention to them, they still had a special place in my heart. They always will. But this just proves that nothing lasts forever. It fucking sucks, but it's the truth. Every single band or artist has a shelf life. I still haven't listened to them since the breakup because they bring back way too many personal memories for me, but I've more or less accepted it. MCR is done. They had a great run but now it's time to let them go. Everyone needs to accept that. And contrary to popular belief, no, Gerard doesn't owe anybody shit. He doesn't owe you a long, detailed explanation on why MCR broke up, and his solo work does not have to pander to fans and sound like the exact same thing as the band. Not saying you have to like it, you just got to get over it.

I also felt like the black parade was the highlight of MCR. I really love the band and Danger Days and Conventional Weapons are pretty good, but especially Danger Days isn't My Chemical Romance, if you ask me. It would have been an happy ending, if MCR broke up with "The black parade is dead", since it would have been the most honest way saying good bye. (My opinion, don't blame me, if you disagree) Still i'm grateful that they didn't, because if they broke up that early, I may never have heard of My Chemical Romance. Love those guys for all the hard work.

I don't think they really broke up, but with Black Parade died also the old MCR. Some bands are able to evolve and change completely, and they kind of did that with Danger Days, but MCR just wasn't made for that type of music.

Gerard is singing "I dont Love you" in the trailer with Ray playing guitar. Honestly I understand why they felt they needed to do Danger Days with them all finally fully growing up. Being married, having kids. Having responsibilities and bills. Like you said, MCR was there during a era where music was recieved and enjoyed differently than it is nowadays...it influenced many millaniels and I think I wouldnt be who I am today with MCR shaping me in my Tender years. After My Chemical Romance broke up, I was sad and angry, but seeing his happiness as well as his new music really made me feel better. Personally, I think his new album is a mixture of Danger Days and his new stuff. I really like it. When artists from bands break up and go solo, I always hear their new stuff and not like it at first and have to really do a double take before I end up liking it. I feel like all of their self is gone at first and it takes me a while to accept the new them. As for Gerard Way, I immediately liked his new stuff and it reminded me strongly of My Chemical Romance and it still does. For that I am happy.

For some reason I feel a lot better watching this interview and reading about his view of the black parade and how it should have been the end, because i too always felt like it should have. like so many of the fans, i grew up listening to these guys and really appreciating their music and their message. IMO greatest band ever. unfortunately i never got to go see them in concert, but when i heard their last album something just didn't sit right. its awesome how he is able to stick by danger days but he is also really realistic about what he thought the band would come to. i personally don't understand when people say they want MCR back. what would be the point if none of the guys had any passion for it? then it would be like a sellout and it would go against everything they stood for.

My history with the band: I was in like 1st grade and my brother and his friend always listened to dead! not because they like the band but just because they thought it was a really cool metal song. After that I didn’t think to actually look into the band. 5 years later, I am 11 years old and I heard the song in an artist impressions video and finally looked it up. Bro, as a guy that was in 8th grade when Black Parade came out, I'm just glad you're generation is catching on to the stuff a tad bit before your time. There was a lot of cool stuff coming out at that time, music was changing, for better or worse. Just like it is now. Keep listening to old stuff, and continue to embrace new stuff. There's all sorts of great music in this archive called KZbin. MCR was really cool to experience in real time. But hey!! Good news! I just saw them live the other day, first show of the tour in OKC, it was amazing! They might come to a venue near you, check! They did get back together!!! It just took way too long

I don't think My Chemical Romance really went beyond Black Parade. They created the band to make an impression, to help people but also help themselves, and this is what they did; they now all have families, they're happy with their solo careers, and all of this thanks to the band, but MCR is not made for this kind of music. Everyone in the band changed during the years, until playing together wasn't their thing anymore, and I think it all happened with Black Parade. It is such an intense album, inspiring, and that truly riflects what they were at the time, kinda like some sort of rivelation, and it had that effect on everyone. This is why they had to take their times after finishing touring, and this is why it took so long to record Danger Days and also why it's so different from the other albums; MCR wasn't totally over after Black Parade, but they had certanly changed in an irriversible way in that period, and that changment slowly brought them to the break up. The old MCR was dead way before 2013. (I'm not saying Danger Days was in any way worse than Black Parade, they're both beautiful but also so different I don't even compare them).

I actually thought for a while that The Black Parade was their last album. It did kinda have that finish to it. Their albums in general is just kinda like a life. The revenge days being the teenage years and just when you get hurt or wronged as a child or teen, but then the Danger Days would have been after that like a rebellious stage or "dangerous," stage in someone's life. I still get sad to this day. My heart just can't cope with it sometimes. Yes, it happened a while ago. But, still, they forever are in my heart. As of 2017, he is just so different. I sometimes shut down thinking of it. MCR was an amazing band. *tear*

tbh he is right. black parade was honestly perfect and represented mcr for what they were so well. if they had stayed together they would only be trying to top black parade for the rest of their careers. they were such a good band that they fully found there sound in such a small amount of material.

MCR is that parent(or guardian) that helped us ride a bike. They helped us hold on until we could do it by themselves and now we can do it without their direct help. They are still there doing their own things while watching us ride our bikes with the other Killjoys. Their influence is very much alive in this generation and it will be forevermore. From all of us Rock 'n' Rollers, Crash Queens, and Motor Babies we love you MCR and though your not a band anymore, your memory WILL CARRY ON❤️

on there last album, I wanted the very last song to be welcome to the black parade. but the original song and at the end of it was them saying thank you, I replay that scenario in my head because the brake up took a huge toll on me, I just wish that they would have did that and at least say thank you. and if they did then im sorry.

In my opinion I don't mind that they continued after TBP, but it would have made sense to end there. It's kinda weird though, I can compare Revenge and Black Parade, but Danger Days is so different that it takes a little bit to get used to the fact it's MCR. (Just my opinion. Still a good album.)

Okay Gerard. Out with it. I am so freaking pissed I could jump him. If it was all about creative paralysis, why the hell did you have to break your boys up? You guys needed each other, I can see it. I can feel it. You lost all sense of worth when it broke. Danger Days wasn't the greatest, no, but you were together and you made music together with all your heart in it. You could have gone on hiatus and we would have waited for something to come up, like Fall Out Boy did. Why the heck would you wake up one day and break them apart? I don't fucking understand anything you do anymore and I don't even like your new music at all. I feel devastated, oh but hey I'm 1/3 of the people who don't understand. So fucking help us understand, for God's sake. We loved you as children and we still grow to love you as we grow older with you. Don't you owe us an explanation? You gave us all that pain and then you just fling it over your shoulder for nothing. Damn it Gerard.

You need to get over the fuss about them breaking up. Yeah, I miss them, but i want to see them happy, and if they are. That's good. OH MY GOD. You guys are so friggin immature just calm down. Now I agree that Danger Days was not the best, but it wasnt terrible. Na na na was awesome. But seriously, if he wants a solo career than thats ok. I like it, some of it is actually really good. Yes, out of the two I would prefer MCR, but would you rather them not do anything at all? Everything past black parade was ok, but not as good as black parade and everything before (Helena, teenagers, Welcome to the black parade, Im Not Okay, basically everything before and The black parade, and itself) personally, I love 3 cheers for sweet revenge the best. Honestly, I did like MCR better than his solo career, but they split up for the best, and you need to accept that.
