Great review of this "entry level" multi-tool, Joe! As a fairly experienced multi-tool user, I too, have several others, including the Leatherman Wave and the "original" Gerber multi-tool with the slide-out pliers. Though the Wave is very nicely made and has a highly functional toolset (saw included), I find that I much prefer the spring-loaded plier design like this Suspension NXT has, as well as the Phillips head on the Gerber, because it actually locks. And while the knife blade is small, it seems sharp enough, and does the job for an "urban handyman" like me. At the price point, IMHO, it's certainly more than adequate. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this tool! I’m glad you also see the merit in the Suspension NXT even if it lacks a saw. IMO Spring-loaded pliers are, without a doubt, more ergonomic than “regular” pliers so I get where you’re coming from

Got it for a week now and the only complain I have is the blade came dull as butter knife... but that is easy enough to fix. For the price it does a great job as my edc pocket tool and so far I'm happy with it

I know I'm 2 years late, but wanted to comment on adjusting. On my original Suspension, I simply heated the joint with a propane torch for maybe 20 seconds, and it unscrewed. Obviously need to be aware of the plastic and rubber that are close by, but I'd imagine you can do the same with this one. I was removing sand from mine and felt it was worth disassembling to try and salvage, and was lucky to have it all work. Used Loctite to put it back together.

You must have disengaged the factory threadlocker with heat. It’s usually the only way. Good to know

i bought this couple of months back. Not as cheap as what u find in US. I got it for USD4x in Malaysia and i just bought the classic suspension for the same price 2 weeks ago. At this price point, it does what it does well enough. The knife blade and scissors are sharp and perform better than some of the pricier tools i have. I am for one, not impressed with the scissor from my Surge (Black+silver) and this works better (same as the classic suspension). The classic one has better grip and heavier. The plier fold smoothly with a very nice click while my surge folds and sometimes it get stuck half way which is kinda crappy for a higher grade and more expensive tool.

Will the life time warranty cover the pocket click if broken?

For my multi-tool needs this is my favorite. For ME would be perfect with a saw instead of scissors. I realize there are better tools out there but I can’t justify $100 when I need other gear as my budget allows.

I invest in these tools for the sake of the channel. I had a Gerber Suspension original for years and then went to the Surge. Those 2 tools sustained me for a decade of hard work. I’m not here to knock the budget tools for being cheap, but there are clear differences between tools of different makes and prices. I’m here to empower consumers with more information so you don’t have to spend more than you need or want

@@inkiron3907 That is why I am careful to say for my needs, while camping I always have additional tools along for heavier tasks.

Do you carry it in a sheath? How do you carry it?

In my front pants pocket. That’s my preferred way to carry any tool

Actually the handle profile greatly reduces hand pinch potential.
@inkiron39073 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t complaining about pinching. The handles are uncomfortable to grip hard because they aren’t rounded and contain edges that poke my hands

Found the NXT for $25 at Home Depot and bought for myself (urban EDC novice) based on this designation of it as introductory MT In few days since, I have somehow managed to KO spring-action on the pliers - terrible little surprise for me, bc. I’d really only ever done some fidgeting On the bright side I have a chance now to develop a Leatherman grip without even having had to spring(!) for that hardware 🤣

I sprayed WD-40 all over it & everything pulls out easy… may want to lubricate it more… ( per your 1st video )

Whilst I love leatherman American made multitools in auatralia this is available for around 1/3 of the price of a leatherman wave so a no brainer here. That said I also owe 2 leathermans
