Nein.

@@HayleyAlexis I think it is a matter of different mindsets - The American mindset is individualistic (in a positive way) - the German mindset is more like, for the common good If you are still here in 20 years, you will keep your Florida mindset - which is how it should be. Or you will adjust to each culture individually - there are so many different cultures in Germany. Your life mate/boyfriend is absolutely RIGHT, when he states that making a comment like "I like your dress" means you are hitting on someone in GERMANY. In California, for example, women like that. But that also has something to do with the fact that (we) Americans are in to small talk. Many Germans, probably male, think small talk is a waste of time. I would beg to differ.

He is definitely right with the louder part haha. I know plenty of Americans who constantly say they aren't loud, but it's just because most of you guys don't notice it as you're used to speaking like that :)

Oh wow!!! I’m half German and half Spanish. I know nothing of my German culture (my father passed away when I was young), anyway I never really identified with my Spanish side. I always felt and thought differently. I’m a punctual perfectionist since birth and I’m NOT a jealous person whatsoever. One time my significant other and I went to a restaurant. He proceeded to get a table as I went to the restroom. Upon my return the waitress had her back to me , she was facing him and flirting. I didn’t say a word. When she turned and noticed I had been sitting there, I just asked, “what’s good on the menu?” My honey later asked if I was jealous. I said, “not at all, look at me!! If you leave me for her, you’re the fool.” He agreed. But on a serious note, I’ve never been jealous.

Yes, that's something I really love. I'm not a jealous person, so when someone comes up with a jealous reaction I'm always like "WTF? Where that came from?". Also, I think Germans don't like to put their personal affairs on display, in front of others. When they have a problem or don't like something, they won't say it right there and then, they'll wait until they can comment it in a private space.

I think part of it is the language barrier, because lots of things in English have more than one meaning. For example: When my friend says or does something crazy or stupid, I will say "omg, I can't believe you!" and he always says "Why would I lie?" and gets offended lol I always have to tell him that I'm not saying he's lying, I don't mean it that way. This was a very fun video! A few reactions: - The German girls I've known were, for the most part, deeply sensitive, even emotionally turbulent; however, they kept those emotions bottled up. They were not very expressive, so their moods were difficult to untangle. Rarely did they ever come across as kind. - For example, they were frequently very easily offended, tending to interpret every comment as an insult. They feel deeply, but are disinclined to discuss why they are upset and don't show many emotions besides being quietly pissed off. :-) They tended to think I was very insensitive to their feelings, which surprised me, because American women universally think of me overly sensitive. I think this was mostly to do with the language gap. - The German men I knew were generally very poor dressers, baggy clashing shirts and trousers, black socks with sandles, that sort of thing. None have worn those dumb-looking baggy athletic shorts so many American men wear, so they are more formal than in the US: Yet they didn't have any sense of style. I need to be careful here, because according to my wife, neither do I. :-)

I am half Swedish and half Spanish and i live in Germany. German men lack passion, many of them are very strict, little sense of humor and very little jealousy towards their girlfriends. But i agree with your boyfriend in one point and that's the fact that German girls like to pay for themselves. American girls/women and women from the southern regions like Spain, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, Greece etc. prefer a man who takes care of everything like paying the food, the drinks, the bills etc. German girls are more indipendent, they don't like it when you pay for their stuff

The thing about dating beyond a language barrier is that one has to be able to speak a language really reeeally well in order to understand the subtext. Those little subtle messages that aren't actually spoken out loud. Relationships and romance, that's all about subtext!
