The part, where you assumed, you missed a joke: "So jung kommen wir nie wieder zusammen" is a very popular German phrase, often used to convince someone of doing something. Like an old German version of YOLO. 😂 But in fact, it's kinda nonsense, because of course you won't meet that young again. You can't stop aging or stand still at one time, you will always be older, when you meet someone the next time, than you are now.

"This young we will never meet again." is a phrase in German referencing that this moment is precious as any time thereafter we will be older. A phrase typically used on parties or other happy occasions where people are more or less intoxicated by alcohol and bubbling happy mood.. like carneval for example. So, he is making fun of the fact that the helplessness shown in these phrases stem from an inability to cope with their own feelings and lack of ability to rationalize and express things.. by the "intellectuellen" which he pronounces wrongly on intent making fun of those acadamics who think of themselves to be of a better breed than the rest of the population. I just wanted to add that I think the central sentence in this part is: "And I hope you can tell an explanation from a justification." In my mind this is also true for the current situation in Ukraine. There is a cause of events that led up to this and it is important to understand this, but voicing and discussing this can in no way mean to justify this war. But still, it is important to understand this....otherwise, how will you able to learn to foresee and possibly prevent similar developments by proactive decisions in the future...?
@LigH_de
@LigH_de 2 жыл бұрын
Most of all, this phrase is used to make up a totally pointless reason for doing something. Like, having another drink. Let's celebrate the fact that we are still young right now, and in a moment we won't be this young anymore, so let's raise our glasses better now that later, to celebrate it.

Dieter Hildebrandt and Volker Pispers. I currently like Georg Schramm, Max Uthoff, Andreas Rebers and also Sebastian Pufpaff, but only when he was doing "Happy Hour" and "Noch nicht Schicht". Sebastian Pufpaff is currently at "TV total" much better imo than Stephan Raab ever was, but I am and always have been conflicted about this TV format as far as the content is concerned, "TV total" was and is nothing more than the well-known dubious level of private TV stations, regardless of the respective moderator.

Thank you for directing me to this German comedian I had heard of, but admittedly I had not paid enough attention to. He his not mainstream here. His material has aged better than gold and I realize his brutality in analyzing is much more accurately describing the reality than I thought/hoped/imagined. Thank you for making the link. Love your true affection when you let us look at this through the eyes of someone with a totally different background. And yet we seem to be stunned/frightened/depressed with the same lines and conclusions Volker presented us with. Keep going. Seems you like and are very, very good at commenting hard core comedian truth !!! If you have aspirations to get a wide range for your channel I recommend that you get familiar with the work of George Carlin. A very radical US 'humorist' indeed. If you portrayed him for US KZbin in the same style as much as Volker for us German dudes, you probably can get the reach you deserve. Unfortunately George deceased and could not comment on the latest insanities,. But he has golden legacy performances on KZbin that I thought you may the very person to take on the flag and revitalize some of his work. Just a thought. Keen now to watch your 'Pispers 5 of 5'.

"This young we will never be together again" (So jung kommen wir nicht wieder zusammen) is a german phrase that is a beer chant, a more jovial sounding phrase. He wanted to demonstrate how stupid and empty the dramatic phrase of "nothing will ever be the same" sounds. It says nothing, just like the beer/party phrase. I know you will probably not see this since its been a year but maybe someone else already explained this. I just love your enthusiasm to understand and wanted to assist as good as I can.

Another thing about the old German Kabarett (which isn't as sharp and "brutal" as it once was now that the old guard like Volker Pispers, George Schramm or Wilfried Schmickler isn't on stage anymore) is that they are using a lot of sarcasm with smaller or bigger doses of cynicism. And Pispers likes to imply and suggest things every know and then, not directly saying it but leave it to the imagination of the audience. Make them think about what he's trying to tell them. There is no greater sin than to explain something like that, however I guess it is difficult to get the message when you don't actually understand the language and read the subtitles. Then one easily misses the undertones in the modulation of the voice: When Pispers says that he doesn't understand why a US bomber pilot is brave and courageous and the suicide bombers are sneaky and treacherous.... he actually does. Because it's a matter of "perspective", of the interpretational sovereignty, that the west and especially the US actually just say they have moral high ground. Essentially Pispers is stating but not directly saying is, that to him there is no moral difference between a suicide bomber who blows himself and the people around him up and a soldier whose dropping bombs on civilians. Anyway, it's great to see how you try to get into it and wrap your head around it. Trust me, many Germans would have turned off early just because it's not what they want. Technically, Pispers (and others) really didn't give their audiences what they wanted but what they needed. Or deserved. Or both.

Gleiswanderer : No ! , You are completely wrong with your message. 1st , you generalize in a shameless way. There are ill-minded politicians who take nefarious decisions which harm all of us , yes. But there are also well-minded politicians which take also nefarious decisions which harm all of us. One paradox in life is always that someone takes a bad decisión when in his mind he believes doing the right thing. One example , climate change and "save the planet" . Our planet is doing his way as nature and time tells over the last 6 billion years , without human beings on it for 99.99% of this time. If someone know wants to believe that the humans using "fossil fuels" and producing a bit more CO2 for the last 200 years will have any impact over the future of the planet , he is free to believe it. But when you start to put your ressources and your workforce into fighting climate change and "saving the planet" , destroying at the same time the wellbeeing of everyone , than I tell you that your decision to do so is as bad as it can be , bad without limits. 2nd , you throw "politicians" and "the world" into the same pot. Nononono -----When you start to hate that one, who tells the sad messages, THEN something would be wrong---- that is the only part of your speech someone can agree. Well-minded politicians which take proper decisions without doing any harm to anybody are a ver very rare species . But in our system they normally not get reelected. Sometimes you find one of that at the level of your local council , but never in the upper echelons.

I can't recall how many "react channels" just use other people's work to promote themselves. "Nichts wird je wieder so sein, wie es war" Nothing will ever be again as it used to be - that was a newspaper headline after 9/11 one of the many unbeliebeably shallow phrases that were put out after that horrible event. Volker Pispers compares it to the common german phrase "so jung kommen wir nicht mehr zusammen" so young we will never meet again, which is often used in very light hearted situations and at parties. He compares it to say, it has the same content - exactly none.

Respect to you Shady Shae. You can see from your reactions that you are a humanist, a good person who respects others regardless of their origin and religion! I take my hat off to you for that. When I saw Volker Pispers' videos back then, I was just as perplexed as you are, I didn't feel a bit offended, I felt much more understood!! I love his brutal honesty! I hope we will see him on stage again sometime... but unfortunately he has already denied this...

Allow me to translate "So jung kommen wir nie wieder zusammen". That is a popular figure of speech, used to greet friends a t the beginning of a party. It is a considered a funny way to say "Let's embrace this moment". Quite literally it says: "We will never again meet while we are still that young". Yeah, next time you meet you will be (a little bit) older.

The "joke" "This young we will never meet again" is a phrase, when Germans toasts together a pub. That means, that this is a total meaningless sentence, which you can say in every situation and every occasion. You can also say it, when you meet a friend in the street, this sentence is always true, but it is a commonplace, no worth to mention it. (Sorry, Robert, ich sah Deinen Kommentar nicht, aber ich lass es trotzdem mal stehen)

I love how respectful and sophisticated you're watching this. And that you educate yourself with this truth, that has been hushed for so long. I have a suggestion: there's this whole satire show "Neues aus der Anstalt" (news from the asylum), I don't know if that has subtitles, but it would be amazing to see you react to that! They always have current topics and are on the same level as Volker Pispers!

No, "Neues aus der Anstalt" is not on the same level as Pispers. That show, airing on German public Broadcast, has been always a lot more harmless than Pispers and in the last 3 years it became even more soft. But there are some really good clips from "Neues aus der Anstalt" that i would recommend watching. watch?v=tC_vYJBhJuc&ab watch?v=MM7XUtLzDs4&ab But the automatic subtitles are not really good, hope you can get the meanings.

That man was a savage. He would torture you with the truth until you begged him "Please, no more!!" and he would smile at you and just say in a compassionate voice: "I have not even begun. I will rescue you from your own ignorance, even if your heart is torn to peaces in the process. I will bring you the light, even if it burns away your eyes. And you will love me for it in the end." If we had only listened, we could have changed something here in germany at least. We did not listen. Now he is silent. We lost him to our own ignorance.

Thank you for your videos. I can understand your reaction to Volker Pispers! For me it is always making me feel like "Das Lachen bleibt mir im Hals stecken" - A German expression when you want to laugh, but the laughing stops midway and is causing a lump in your throat, because you realise how right he is and how the principles of profit making capitalism makes the world an awful place. At the same time I feel that he knows so much and I want to learn more because he has a gift to explain complex matters so clearly.

... But you have said that you need something which is more fun. I don't know if someone has already recommended Anke Engelkes "Ladykracher"? I hope at least some of it is already translated into English, as it is "classical comedy" now. I know the titel sounds a bit like it is womens' stuff - and partly it is - but my husband watches more repetitions of it than I do, because it makes fun of the typical German couples, families, work - of relationships between ordinary people. - So it might be quite interesting to see if these kind of jokes are funny for you because they describe universal features of relationships, or if they are funny because they show how "weird" German relationships seem to be - or if they are not funny because they are so different. Another female comedian we like to watch is Martina Hill (only the older stuff, though), she is really going on about women and is totally nuts. Here I found videos with English subtitles kzbin.info/aero/PLlF6wdAQ8FG5EKCcFy5EOsCLdYMXDuImB Both give much inside, but are much lighter and might lift your heart after the educating political comedy. Thank you again for sharing your feeling with us, Claudia

This videos explain in best form the German word "Weltschmerz", translated it mean "world pain", which is a German mental illness. Not because we are really ill because of that, it is more like the pain we do feel when we are looking in the world and see how corrupt and self-destructively it is...that your heart could bleeds with worry about the world! And that is what Volker Pispers do perform, he shows our "world pain" if you only open your eyes and mind about how it really is.

6:26 the joke here is that they originally said "nothing will be the same ever again" which is true for any second and minutes that passed. Because we can't change back time so we are always progressing only in one direction on the timeline. Therefore he said that the newspapers could also have written "this young we will never meet again" which would have the same amount of truth and usefulness

13:55 when i read german newspaper and there is an article about someone dying in europe or even in germany my mother is really shocked and tends to be sad. I once said to her: mum there are thousands of people dying every day in the world no matter where they live. she just replied: but they dont die like next to us... that sadly also shows she might not value every human equally aswell, but I guess you get more concerned about smth when it happens closer to yourself..

Explanation of the joke at 6:20 "So jung kommen wir nie wieder zusammen" / "This young we will never meet again." Is a sentence which is normally used on partys/celebrations or events to convince a person who wants to leave to stay instead and enjoy the event a little longer because if/when people meet each other the next time they will be older (and maybe not that healthy anymore). People get older and things change automatically by time. He compares this sentence with stupid headlines of articles like "Nothing will ever be the same again" because this sentence just sound dramatic but acctually dont have a content because everything changes by time and the status of what is now will nit be the same at any tkme in the future. So both sentences follow the same argumentation logic but one of them is a headline in an article and one is a sentence people use to convince their friend to drink another beer/vine instead of leaving and go home.

You can pretty much say the big UN Nations just do what they want. The UN was pretty much was just watching what the US and Russia did to countries around the world. China right now waits and checks how Europe will handle this and then decide their next trading courses and their assault on taiwan. The US, China and Russia got their hands deep inside terrorism around the world for decades. And especially now it's important that europe comes together, isn't divided by the influence of propaganda. Every big Player wants a piece of Europe, that's why a lot of harbors aren't even in european hands anymore, but already belong to china, the US or Russia (For example a lot of Harbors/routes in greek belong to the chinese government). And we as europeans underestimate our own value and our global position in this world. We should start to be independend and not follow blind the propaganda that we think is best for our interests. We should start to work towards europes interest or we will get consumed

@@moki4541 Hey Moki, I don't know why your comment is hidden, you just stated simple non-offending political thoughts and ideas which I made a screenshot of. I don't really know if you're speaking about the EU when you say Europe, but I don't agree on focusing on this area. I think you have to look at all souvereign instances at all times. So what I like most about Pispers is the bigotry he shows (500 Americans are worth a million Africans) and that's what people think due to propaganda which focuses on one event from only one viewpoint. The only way to try to stay neutral is listening to propaganda from all sides and believe nothing, which is sad, or to take the time and make your own thoughts while considering every historical details which is to time consuming for the normal citizen. Unfortunately the russian side is banned in the EU (banned media outlets) so a neutral view from the simple man is nearly not possible, except he did not forget the news in the last years (like about the civil war in east Ukraine the last years). Some of this information you can find in the archives of our media outlets, but they won't show it right now. I mean most people here don't know that the civil war with the Ukrainian army is going on for about 8 years with around 13000 dead people (including military as far as I know), over 140 dead children as up to 2018 (alley of angels - also on wikipedia) and as stated last month from Russian side at the UN about 1.6 million refugees from Ukraine (fleeing mostly to Russia) even before Putin's war/Intervention/however started this year. Diversity of information is needed right now, so I think it is a bad move from miss Von Der Leyen to happily declare we banned more media outlets... In my opinion it is not helping the democracy at all. So in conclusion it would be nice to get all facts by the media, not just one side propaganda and it is sad that they will probably only get to the western normal citizen many years later in a satirical context. Anyways, thanks Shady for the video.

@@Dabbelaka My Family is from russia, my family watches russian news every Day on the TV or the Internet, here in Germany. What was banned was mainly those channels used for propaganda, not diversity. You seem to forgot one simple thing: 80% of people don't check sources and most people even check for sources that just confirm lies they already heard (Kinda like searching up a BILD post and validating it with another Springerpresse Post) Medial Control is Power Especially when one side simply just can't check for other sources. We know about that conflict going on for so long. But this web of propaganda is one main reason why older russian people (like my parents or the parents of a friend) still support Vladimir Putin, even justifiying killing people, just because "they lie about putin". That's extremism. If it would be for us young russians, we would say that russian citizens themself would have to take out putin as the best result for peace, just like germany should have done with adolf hitler before it was too late.

For me it is a brilliant way of "humor" it makes people think about the things and questioning (hinterfragen) about her selfs and other. I'm actively looking for other German commedians with English subtitles for you, after this I'm focussing on the more "comfortable" kinds of humour. Problem is, with material like this, more people think "the English speaking world needs to hear this", others that focus more on innocent humour and word play are harder to translate well and there's less incentive. I'll keep looking, maybe I'll just have to translate and caption something myself.
