In English we sometimes say postman, fireman, congressman, etc. In a German sentence, would that word use Mann or man? I'm not just interested in today's German interpretation and today's use of man and Mann, but also the original meaning centuries ago. In other words, did postman, fireman, etc. use Mann and then change to use "man" as society began to treat woman as equal?

What’s the difference between « Tüte » und « Tasche »? I’m saleswoman. For the customers, I must say « Tasche » or « Tüte »?

Tüte is usually a plastic or paper bag you would get at a supermarket. Tasche can be made of any kind of material and it is used over and over. Die Tasche includes travel bags, handbags ...it can mean the pocket too.
