yeah well, she had already run 3 100ms and 3 200ms (and won them all trashed them in the 200m tbf). Then still ran the fastest split of the relay out of everyone.

she’s split 50.9 before, and only ran the 100 and 200 here (which i think the 400 is her better event)

Adeleke is unreal, won 100 and 200 (easily); if she could have run his relay leg "normally" (sorry, I don't speak eng and I don't know how explain better) would bring Ireland to the podium; I'm sure that we will hear a lot about this girl, is phenomenal.

Rashidat Adeleke is unreal that last leg was amazing eating up the ground. Though I do think 400m might be slightly above her range either that she might have tweaked something in the last 100m. Anyway the Germans ran as a team and deserve the gold.

She did what she could given the huge deficit. I think it was absolutely the right approach though - she needed to attack hard and hope for the best. Some of the other athletes may have tied up badly on a different day. Incredible effort anyway.

she’s split 50.96 (i think) this season like she can RUN that 400 but i think she went out way too fast, but considering she almost walked the last 50 and still had the fastest split i think she’ll be ight lol

Since she won both the 100m & 200m prior, she likely competed in twice as many events as her competitors and literally had nothing left. The others should consider themselves fortunate she wasn't totally fresh, else she would've ran herself right into Tokyo.

They didn't take a team. Although they had the silver medallist at these champs, the only other British Under 20 under 55 seconds this year is Keely Hodgkinson who wasn't here because she is running the 800 at the Olympics.

We didn't take a women's team. We had the individual silver medallist but, other then Olympic 800 medallist Keely Hodgkinson (not at these Champs), there was a big gap to the next eligible athletes.

You would think the last runner would know NOT TO SPEED UP BEFORE THE 100m mark, only to fall flat in the last 75m. Does the coach not warn them of these random pointless spurts. ???

She’s a 100m/200m runner, she’s never raced 400m other than a couple of relay splits. She was coming from 20m behind to try get back into the race so can you blame her? Also she ran 6 races over the previous 2 days, the exhaustion just kicked in

What's missing in this expert "rear view" analysis is Adeleke didn't have the perspective you have. How in the world would she know how fast or slow the lead pack would run with such a huge deficit. The goal is to win, not finish. She had proven she was the fastest (in Europe U20), so she did precisely the right thing. Try to close the gap as much as possible and pray she would have enough to hold the lead or fight to the finish. She failed, but now the world knows this girl potentially can be truly special.
@gdeec
@gdeec 3 жыл бұрын
If she waited till 100m, it was a win. The winner always comes from behind. Amateur and professionals make the same mistake so I don't understand why they dont drum it into their heads. DONT speed from the 300m point. Whether she ran 500000000 races before the relays, my reasoning remains.
