Germans 🇩🇪are always pleasantly surprised when foreigners can speak their language. In fact as multi lingual people we have a distinct advantage in social situations. I miss my time in Germany😢😢 🇩🇪 the people are so patient, and tolerant especially when they can see you make the effort, to communicate in their ‘Muttersprache‘ (Native/Mother Tongue) The key to learning to speak a foreign language as an adult is too approach it with the mind of a child, don’t be afraid to get it wrong, and always have the below ⬇️ phrase to hand! 🇩🇪Entschuldigung für mein schlechtes Deutsch🇩🇪 Viel Spaß!! 😃

The guy at the end (by whom you couldn't put subtitles cause of his strong accent/dialect) said: He's 12, he just said, (his friend asks you how old you are), he just said that he was 12! When you repeated 12 because you weren't sure that he said the number 12 in his dialect (which he actually did) he thought that you understood him and then said that you were 12.

An géar nuair a dúirt an cailín gur as Sasana é 🤣 Believe it or not alot of Irish people can actually speak German and French to a high degree along with Gaeilge and English. Actually in the East of Ireland there's more German speakers then Gaeilge. But in the West of Ireland it's the opposite obviously. Its actually quite sad that my own people know more foreign languages then they're native language. Yes the déad ness if Irish is grossly over exaggerated as there are 1.5 million fluent speakers of the language, but Germanic languages dominate the nation

Hey Jay, wenn Du sagst "Ich komme aus Irland.", meinst Du dabei die Insel? Oder das Constituent Country (Nord-)irland, die Republik Irland oder beide? Und in welchem Kontext sagst Du Irland bzw. Nordirland? Danke und Gruß
@GermanWithJay3 жыл бұрын
ahh its kind of hard to explain. Identity in Northern Ireland is a tough topic. I come from Northern Ireland (which is part of the UK) but often when I meet people I just say I'm Irish (even though I'm actually Northern Irish). It's funny but many people don't actually know that Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are two different countries. So it is often easier for me just to say I'm Irish than having to explain.
@chdc49233 жыл бұрын
@@GermanWithJay That's a good strategy. I considered asking as I noticed you always kept saying Northern Ireland in your other videos and their description. Looking at IRFU, IFA and FAI, the word "Irish" appears quite ambiguous, so I see why many people with bad geography knowledge get confused.
